honestly an underrated campsite. just be sure to make a fire to keep the bugs away, which there are lots of great sticks to do so. the site itself is well kept and spacious. the creek had yellow water but it tasted fine. there's some sort of train rubble about half a mile down but it's only worth seeing if you were already passing by.
Beautiful campsite in a maple forest with creek water close by. Incredibly peaceful. Campsites have metal fire rings, so campfires may be permitted here if currently allowed by park rangers. Campsites have little to no trees or brush between them, so there isn't much privacy if the campground is full.
I made a detour during my September 2016 hike across the island to check this campground out. I wouldn't really recommend it unless you're in dire straights. There's no easy source of water to purify and the view is pretty much just the woods. I wasn't able to locate the mine either.
Not as scenic as the other campsites. The stream isn't much to look at, but it's close to the campsite. The campsites are pretty close together, I wouldn't look to stay here unless I needed to.
We did not end up staying here for the night, but the campsite was beautiful and peaceful. Water source was a little dry this trip.
