Pros: Great location! I loved listening to all the songbirds and bull frogs and watching the geese and goslings. We met several camping neighbors, and they were all very friendly and helpful. Kayak rentals are offered for a great rate ($10 each for 4 hours). Very nice and spotless restrooms! We look forward to camping here again in the future. Cons: poorly managed. The office was closed several times when they were advertised as open. The website indicates the RVs included WiFi, but they don't have WiFi. Inspectors came during our stay, and the septic inspection failed, so all the RVs that were hooked up had to be immediately disconnected. The water connection for the rental RV next to us was spraying water the entire 10 days we were there, and the problem was reported on day 2 (the handle was shut off). They don't have a spare key for the rental, and I accidentally locked myself out. Thankfully, the key was on the table, and I was able to slide open the window and reach in to grab it. We ordered firewood, and it was never delivered. Thankfully we weren't charged. We just went down to the corner store to buy some. Given all these things, I would still camp here in the future due to all the pros. Hopefully, the owners will get the other issues handled soon.
Beautiful little campground. Very friendly and accommodating. We stayed in the rustic camp area and had a great time. Caught a few fish in the ponds on the property, including a bass ! We will definitely be coming back here again!
This is a great campground especially for families that like it a bit more quiet. The playground is loads of fun for all ages. The fishing ponds are very large and full of life and will definately lead to hours of fun catching frogs, fish and turtles. The lakefront beach is beautiful and clean, and a great place to park your boat or launch your kayaks and have a day out on the great Dumont Lake. And did I mention the whole park is dog friendly?! If your pups love the water this place is perfect! And the campsites are probably some of the best I have ever stayed at. The sites are very spacious, well kept and perfectly shaded. Will be back, this place is a gem and gets 11/10 from our family!
Good spot, and was pretty quiet while we were there. Lots of RVs parked here, but didn't see hardly anybody around the three days we were camping here. Bathroom/shower facility was top notch. Only thing I'd change there is the lights, which are controlled by a motion detector. The lights turned out on me two different times while I was showering. If I was elderly or had vision issues there could potentially be an accident because of that. A big issue was the dead trees around the camping area. There were multiple decent sized snags in those woods that need to be addressed so that campers don't get a tree landing on their tent during high winds. That area definitely needs some chainsaw and maintenance work to make it safer. Lost a star for this. I think I saw only one water spicket by the camping area, which is okay if there's only a few sites booked, but if it's busy it could be an issue, especially considering it's practically in a bookable site, so it might not even be accessible depending on who's camping there. I knocked off a star for the site booking page. This site baits you into spending more money just to lock in the site you want. The site says something like, "This site will optimize camp site selections, and may move you to a different site when needed. Pay $5 extra to secure your selection." There are no pictures of the sites on their webpage, so you really have no idea how much room each site has. There was JUST enough room for our three person tent on the site we picked, with literally no where else to put it. Our site also had trash in and around the fire ring when we checked in, which isn't cool if you ask me. The perimeter of our site was also slightly overrun with poison ivy and multiflora rose, making it not very kid friendly at all. I don't know if we'd try this place again in the future. They haven't put much love into the primitive camping area, which is what we're usually interested in, and there's plenty of other options in Michigan.
My family and I (partty of 5 with 2 large dogs) spent the week here! Would recommend HIGHLY if you are looking for a great campgrounds! Sites were very clean with lots of trees, meaning lots of shade! The beach was perfectly clean, and the owners were on site. Best camping vacation experience we've had!!
