Jackson Creek Campground Introduce
### Introduction / Overview
For Oregon locals seeking a genuine escape into the quiet solitude of the Central Cascades region, **Jackson Creek Campground (or Jackson Creek Forest Camp)** is a beautifully preserved hidden treasure. Located near Chemult and tucked within the vast embrace of the Fremont-Winema National Forest, this is the definition of a rustic, peaceful retreat. It's the perfect spot to reconnect with nature, offering an environment far removed from the noise and hustle of developed campgrounds.
Nestled among magnificent old-growth ponderosa and Jeffery pines, the campground is notable for its tranquility and natural beauty. A key feature is Jackson Creek itself, a small, babbling stream that riffles through the south side of the camp, providing a soothing soundtrack to your stay. Reviews consistently praise the sheer quietness of the location and the unique beauty of the surrounding landscape, including a stunning meadow that bursts with wildflowers in the spring and summer. Jackson Creek Campground embraces the spirit of primitive camping—it is first-come, first-served, and currently operates as a fee-free site, welcoming the self-sufficient adventurer looking for an authentic Oregon wilderness experience.

### Location and Accessibility
Jackson Creek Campground is situated southeast of Chemult, Oregon, in a remote section of the Fremont-Winema National Forest. Its physical address reference is Silver Lake Rd, Chemult, OR 97731, USA, but travelers should be aware that it is approximately a one hour and forty minute drive from the town of Chemult itself.
The campground sits at a relatively high elevation of approximately 5,600 feet, surrounded by a mixed conifer forest and rocky cliffs. To reach this secluded spot, campers must navigate a **rocky and winding road**, requiring patience and attention. The remote nature ensures that it remains "off the beaten path," contributing to its exceptional quietness. While the road is generally accessible, it is not paved, and visitors should drive cautiously, especially with larger rigs or after adverse weather.
Due to its remote location, this campground is an ideal staging area for exploring the larger region, including various natural zones of beauty and being within an hour's drive of the Crater Lake National Park entrance. However, guests must be prepared, as immediate services are not available.

Customer Reviews
Small rustic campground nestled in old-growth ponderosa pine trees with a babbling brook next to most campsites and a beautiful meadow. Off the beaten path so it's very quiet. They have a few old-style pit toilets for comfort but no pottable water or garbage service. Ample firewood potential here but helpful to bring a saw.
A hidden treasure for my family. A great place for a picnic and walk through the woods. A beautiful creek runs though the camp and if you go during the spring the open fields are covered in wild flowers. An amazing place for a photo shoot.
This was an awesome out of the way campground. I imagine that during peak hunting season it fills up, but when my wife and I were here there was only one other small group. The grounds are mostly open. There is a small stream and plenty of fire trails and woods to wander. There are pit toilets but no water other than the stream.
Lovely small quiet place along a creek. No fee, no water, no garbage service. Pit toilet only. But under the trees, off the beaten path. Gravel and dirt road. Clean area.
An amazing place to spend time with family and loved ones as an awesome cabin with a wood stove and three bunk beds huge camping spot that's Little Creek and about 11 miles east of that's really good swimming holes Williamson River
