JCO Campground at Lee Baysden Pond is rapidly gaining recognition as a premier destination within the Campgrounds & RV Parks category, offering an exceptional and family-friendly outdoor experience in Chinquapin, Duplin County, North Carolina. This 80-acre wildlife paradise is centered around the historic 22-acre Lee Baysden Pond, which boasts a rich history dating back to the 1700s. Owned and operated by locals, JCO Campground is not just a place to stay; it's a vibrant community where guests are invited to relax, reconnect with nature, and create lasting memories. Environment: A Serene Pond and Wildlife Paradise

The core of JCO Campground's appeal lies in its captivating natural environment. The 22-acre Lee Baysden Pond, once a small mill pond, is now the focal point of an 80-acre property that blends rural country landscapes of farmland and forest. This diverse setting offers breathtaking sunrise and sunset views over the water, creating a serene and picturesque backdrop for camping. The pond itself is a thriving ecosystem, attracting a variety of birds and other wildlife, which campers can often observe from their sites or during activities.

The campground is thoughtfully designed to integrate with its natural surroundings, providing a sense of peace and remoteness while still being accessible. The mix of open spaces and wooded areas ensures different camping atmospheres, from lakeside tranquility to more secluded spots tucked into the trees. Despite its seemingly remote location in Chinquapin, it is conveniently located within 40 miles of notable natural attractions like Cliffs of the Neuse State Park and Hammocks Beach State Park, the latter being renowned for seashell hunting. This balance of seclusion and accessibility allows campers to fully immerse themselves in nature without being completely isolated.

Hands down one of the best (if not THE best) camping trips I have ever had. I was in scouts, and I have gone camping dozens of times, and this place blew me away. - Excellent camping spots. They have a wonderful selection of campsites, both close together and secluded from other campsites. - Excellent environment and atmosphere. The nature of this site is stunning. Beautiful trees and pond, without being too dirty or smelly. - Excellent service and accommodation. The campground owners were extremely friendly, helpful, and all-around pleasant people and amazing hosts. - Excellent prices. Loads of other fun things to do around the campground, like fishing and boating, and they have good prices on rentals and reservations. I came here to visit some of my distant friends, and I wish this place was closer to home because I would come here all the time. If you are looking for a premium experience for camping with friends and/or family for a few nights, this is it.

We had a nice relaxing overnight in the floating cabin!! We enjoyed just relaxing on the porch. We walked around the property and I was really impressed with the campsites and how large each one was. They even have a little store. The cabin is really cute and it was built by hand and has heat, cold AC, TV, hammock, chairs, a cute bathroom with on demand hot water, 2 burners, microwave, coffee station, grill and campfire area. Plus it comes with a canoe when you rent the floating cabin!!! Other sites can rent kayaks, canoes or pedal boat. We cooked dinner and just relaxed. It was nice and warm with a great breeze.Just remember linens, blankets, towels and maybe an extra pillow if you're weird about plows like me, and they've got the rest. Super helpful owners. I think we're going to try out the A frame cabin on our next stay. But we'll definitely be back 💜

We just left this beautiful gem, what a serene place. This was our second trip we came to visit our daughter amd family for Christmas our first campground fell through and we were tired from our 9 hour drive from Florida our Son inlaw grew up around there he said let me make a call and these sweet people took us in! It was unseasonably cold and they made sure we were good every day They are the sweetest people ever the campground is so sweet with beautiful views and close to shopping. And Fishing! We will definitely be back to fish

Wonderful owners, massive and well-maintained sites. JCO’s sites are almost all waterfront and grant access to instant, prime bass/brim fishing. We stayed at Sunset Cove #1 for a few nights and the entire experience was perfect. We roof-top tent camp with 5-6 people and have a lot of gear that usually ends up crammed together or unused due to space limitations. We were able to spread out and use everything. Solar sight lines from sunup to sundown but still plenty of shade, and is water available on the RV side. I hate to share this gem but it truly deserves attention. The owners are working hard to improve an already great campground.

It has been a while since I've been here, but my experience was 5/5 stars. Met the owners, purchased firewood, and cooked our own dinner. Had a primitive campsite, very secluded and private, definitely felt like out in the middle of nowhere
