Spent 3 nights at the lodge in early November. Very good base for exploring the local area. Note that the restaurant is cafeteria style food, so healthy options are limited - keep in mind if your diet requires careful choices. There is a small store, well stocked with essentials. Good gift shop. Very nice museum.

We stayed here because of the location. We were getting to Kings National Park later in the day and then the next day we were going to explore Sequoia. We opted to stay at John Muir lodge and the location was great, saved us from staying 45 mins outside the park. Pros: lobby area had coffee, fireplace, board games and puzzles to play, cafeteria/restaurant near the hotel was nice Cons: the money you pay I don’t feel is justified (we paid $230 on a Wednesday night in November), one of the two queen beds appeared to be broken or on a tilt and looked like the sheets on that bed hadn’t been changed so we decided to use that bed for our suitcases, toilets sound like atomic bombs going off and it sounds like WW3 is happening when everyone is going at 6am, walls/doors were thin and could hear noise above us and in the hallway, shower head is a water saving shower head but felt like it took me longer to get the soap off because of it.

We enjoyed our stay at the lodge. The room was nicer than we expected, with plenty of extras including a hair dryer. It is located near Grant Grove in the northern section of Kings Canyon / Sequoia NP, perfect for exploring the less popular areas. The staff was very helpful and friendly.

Staff and on-site management/maintenance team were top-tier, friendly, high efficiency, and always available. 5 stars. The room is very out of shape. My main complaint is that the room smelt like a mold heaven (probably because of the way the shower room was designed) The water pressure was crazy good. The first day shower head created a pond in the room... lol. The maintenance group fixed the shower head in no time. Overall I enjoyed my stay.

John Muir Lodge was a nice place to stay in Kings Canyon. The visitors' center, restaurant, and gift shop are nearby. All less than 5 minute walk from the lodge. There is a microwave, ice machine, and water station in and around the lobby. They also have free coffee and utentils in the lobby. It was very convenient.
