Customer Reviews
Johnston Canyon Lodge and Bungalows, located near the scenic Johnston Canyon in Alberta, provides a decent, no-frills retreat for nature enthusiasts. The cabins, while modest, offer a comfortable stay with basic amenities suited for travelers looking for a simple and functional accommodation. The decor is straightforward, with a focus on practicality rather than luxury, which fits well with the lodge's natural surroundings. One notable aspect is the prohibition of campfires, which may be a drawback for those who enjoy evening gatherings around a fire. However, the lodge compensates with its proximity to Johnston Canyon, making it a convenient base for exploring the area's stunning waterfalls and hiking trails. The on-site restaurant serves breakfast, though it falls into the realm of average. The offerings are sufficient to start your day, but don’t expect anything beyond the basics. While not a culinary highlight, the breakfast provides a convenient option before setting out on adventures. Overall, Johnston Canyon Lodge and Bungalows serves its purpose as a functional and comfortable base for outdoor activities. Its proximity to the canyon and natural beauty of the area remain its strongest points, despite its average amenities.
Johnston canyon cabins far exceeded my expectations. The cabins are very old style and rustic in an adorable way (the photos do not do it justice at all), but they felt magical, I slept so well, and I wished that we had booked to stay here for longer. The service was without fault, the staff here are some of the kindest and friendliest people ever and genuinely seem like they enjoy their job. The coffee at the cafe is really good, as is the food at the restaurant, even if the menu is a little bit limited. The location couldn’t really be better, it’s right next to the start of the Johnston canyon trail, and is within easy access of Banff and Lake Louise. I have already recommended it to 2 groups of people I know coming to Canada in the next few months.
Johnston Canyon Resort exceeded my expectations with its fantastic food and outstanding service. The bison medallions were an absolute highlight—cooked to perfection and full of flavor. Adele at the front desk provided exceptional service, making our stay even more enjoyable. Although I had a small concern with my booking, I'm confident that Maria will address it once she's able. Overall, a wonderful experience that I highly recommend!
You can’t beat staying at a lodge with direct access to Banff’s most popular hike. The cabins are quaint and clean. The internet, however, is entirely useless. Makes you wonder why you’re paying for it if you get poor service with zero streaming capability.
Service is too good. Whatever we asked for amenities they provided within time. Clean and calm atmosphere there. Exactly beside canyon way so you are at perfect place to start your hiking. Price is affordable
