Jones Lake Main Campsite Introduce
Located in the picturesque Fraser Valley of British Columbia, Jones Lake Main Campsite offers a unique camping experience for nature lovers and outdoor enthusiasts. This campground, maintained by BC Hydro, provides free access to its visitors, making it an affordable option for a memorable getaway.
The campsite features large, spacious sites that can accommodate multiple tents, making it ideal for families or groups. Most sites are conveniently located close to the lake, offering stunning views and easy access to the water. Amenities include picnic tables, fire pits, and clean outhouses, ensuring a comfortable stay for all visitors.
Jones Lake is known for its shallow waters, which are pleasantly warm during the summer months of July and August. While the lake is home to some trout, a revitalization project is underway to help restock and increase fish populations. The surrounding area boasts beautiful scenery, making it a perfect spot for photography, hiking, and relaxation.
Access to the campsite requires a drive up a forest service road (FSR), which can be rough and uneven. Visitors are advised to use an SUV or truck for a more comfortable journey. Despite the challenging road, the reward is a serene and tranquil environment that is well worth the effort.

Customer Reviews
Unfortunately, my experience was not a positive one. First and foremost, there are only a few picnic tables available, and they cannot be reserved. This means that visitors have to arrive early in the day to try and secure a spot, and even then, it's a challenge. To make matters worse, the road leading to Jones Lake is in terrible condition. It's bumpy, rocky, and uneven, which can make for a very uncomfortable and frustrating drive, especially if you're not used to driving on rough terrain. In the end, I would not recommend Jones Lake to anyone. The hassle of trying to find a spot to picnic combined with the difficult drive just isn't worth it. I certainly won't be returning, and I would advise anyone else looking for a relaxing day out to consider other options
This campsite is maintained by BC Hydro so it's free! Take exit 153 from Hwy 1. It is then 9 kms up the FSR. I would suggest an SUV or Truck is your best bet. The sites are large and we were able to get two huge tents on one site. There are three banks of sites. Most sites are very close to the lake. They have picnic tables, fire pits and clean outhouses as well. The lake is very shallow but not too cold in July/August which is nice. There is some trout in the lake but it seems some of the fish aren't surviving so they have a revitalization project to help restock and bring up the numbers. The views are beautiful!
This place is awesome. Absolutely beautiful. The campsites are great. They have picnic tables. Fire pits. And outhouses. I do believe it is owned by BC Hydro. And it is free camping. At least when I went it was. All that they ask is you don't stay for more than 14 days in the year. You clean up your garbage. And not be loud at night. A 4x4 is strongly recommended. As your traveling 10 km up the side of a mountain on a logging type road. You could get up there with a car. But if you're not careful you can destroy your car. The road gets pretty rough.
Great lake, great views of mountains and glaciers, loads of campsite options! We camped on the beach and had loads of space to ourselves. 4x4 is recommended but I saw loads of smaller cars drive up, so very much doable
Even word Amazing seems less, to express my feelings. Wonderful place for camping and be you.
