Kanopolis Lake Venango Introduce

**Introduction / Overview: Your Best Choice for Lakeside Camping in Kansas**

When planning a memorable outdoor escape in the Sunflower State, local users often seek a spot that perfectly balances rugged natural beauty with modern amenities.

**Kanopolis Lake Venango Campground**

is consistently cited by Kansas campers as precisely that destination. Managed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), Venango Park is situated on the scenic eastern shores of Kanopolis Lake, offering some of the most spectacular lake views and recreational access in Central Kansas. This is not merely a parking lot for RVs; it is a meticulously maintained, thoughtfully designed recreation area that serves as an ideal base for every type of outdoor enthusiast.

The reviews speak for themselves: Kanopolis Lake Venango is recognized for its

**exceptional cleanliness and well-maintained facilities**

. Campers often highlight the welcoming nature of the camp hosts and the general sense of peace and order that defines the park. With several loops of campsites available, the design ensures a generous amount of space between most sites, a valuable feature that promotes privacy and a truly relaxing experience away from the crowded feeling of other parks. The campground infrastructure is substantial, featuring modern bathhouses that include clean, hot showers—a luxury appreciated by both tent and RV campers after a long day of Kansas hiking or lake activity.

Venango is the ultimate destination for those who want a quality experience on Kanopolis Lake. The combination of beautiful, tree-dotted shoreline sites, excellent utility options, and proximity to extensive recreational areas sets it apart. Whether you are an avid angler, a dedicated hiker, or a family seeking a safe, comfortable weekend retreat, Venango Campground is ready to welcome you during its main season, which typically runs from May 1st through September 30th, with primitive camping often available outside those dates.

**Location and Accessibility: A Central Hub for Kanopolis Lake Adventure**

Kanopolis Lake Venango Campground is strategically located to offer both easy accessibility and immersion in nature. Its official address is

This is a beautiful Corp of Engineers campground with several loops of campsites of various sizes, clean bathhouses with hot showers, trails, and amazing lake views. The host are very nice and welcoming. Some sites have electric and some others include a water connection. Sanitary dumps as well. There are many different campgrounds on lake Kanopolis, but this is the best choice. (Some reviews here seem to be for other campgrounds).

This is a really wonderful campground. Clean, new shower houses, well maintained green spaces, lots of space between most campsites. Beautiful scenery and the hiking trails are great, too. Verizon signal good, and 17 over the air TV stations. Not all sites have utilities but there are many 50 amp W/E sites.

The park rangers were not helpful, nosey and buggy. I've been to a lot of lakes and have never experienced such ignorance anywhere else. The wildlife, rocks, crystals, fossils and water is by far better here than anywhere else. The best time ever just exploring. If you can get passes the rump rangers you will be back time and time again.

This beach is alright but it has no readily accessible restrooms or trees to provide shade, nor tables to set up at. If you want to use the restroom, or play at the playground you have to hike up a steep sand slope first…..(and pack all your stuff up if you don’t have someone to stay with it). Additionally, dogs are not allowed.

Had a very good weekend. Not very crowded. Got a real good campsite close to the water. Good spot to park the boat.
