Tried getting here today, spring snow melt still covering road 4 miles out. Didn’t chance it. We came in from the liberty side. Off 97. 5/16/2025
Visited the site in early June. The road from 97 is a well maintained gravel road with some spectacular views along the way. Areas of previous fires have left lots of standing deadwood which now looks like something from a sci-fi movie. The campsite is decent but the surrounding area is amazing. Lots of great hiking and exploring as well as access to some fun 4 wheel drive trails like 4W312. If you follow NF-9712, it says it is 21 miles to Wenatchee, but in early June, we ran it for around 10 miles and then hit snow....lots of snow.
Great place to visit for elk sightings, camping and riding trails.
Went yesterday and there is no way to get a horse trailer in there unless you take a chain saw to cut all of the down trees and there is a lot in the burn area. Could barely get a truck in. The camp spot is ok. It is primitive but has some nice views. Looks like it would be a nice place with some work.
We just drove in to check it out on our way on their Jeep ride, it was nice! it was set up great they got a nice place there. I would put me up some trail cameras because I seen things there that probably won't stay there, because there's been signed stolen everywhere we go we see that happened Trail signs and stuff people take but I've never seen a nicer setup thing what is there.
