Inexpensive. Clean. Convenience store nearby. Free firewood. Quiet place. Camped in a tent last night.right by the river. It was 25 for the night. A great deal. The drive in from the main road takes you from up high, down to the river. A beautiful drive winding down along a creek, with the land ascending on both sides. The campground is spacious and clean. I checked in quickly and was able to pick my tent spot. A very quiet night with a pretty fire made my stay wonderful.
Wonderful place to stay. Tent sites are sparse at only 3 locations but all in all a beautiful location. Located very close to Frankfort & Buffalo trace makes it an ideal spot to camp while visiting the city. The permanent residents we ran into were very friendly & all stopped by & said hello along with their dogs. Only hiccup would be the coyotes that woke us up at 3 am running in the field by the site, followed by the less startling sound of foxes playing at the river & campsite at 4 am. The sites are not electric which is to be excepted since they have had flooding that fried the sites electricity previously. A really nice perk was the large amount of dried free fire wood we were able to use to start a fire in the fire ring. Thank you to the staff running the park, weiland, hope, & baby’s owners who all made the stay very pleasant & helped us find the amenities we needed to make the stay an enjoyable one.
We rented the on site camper and were very pleased with the cleanliness and comfort of the camper. It was well stocked and very clean, everything one might need for a comfortable getaway was there. Just bring groceries. Definitely would do it again.
This place has been amazing from the first time we came to check it out. There are plenty of cool people who do seasonal camping and activities to enjoy with them. If you like bourbon, Jerry will give you a few tastes 😂. Wow, what a difference a board can make. With this new board, the manager and all other staff has quit and the whole feeling of the campground has really gone to the dogs. So many people have complained about the unwelcoming feeling they get from the board. Sorry, not sorry, but save yourself the disappointment
We had a great time at the campground met many nice people that truly made us feel at home and as if we’ve known them our whole life. Angie the manager was fantastic, she hads made the campground a family affair which we rarely see on our travels around the Country. We hope to return again soon and visit with our new found friends in Kentucky!
