This is such a nice beach! The colour of the water is so blue and the sand is white. The waves from the boats are amazing to play around in. Definitely a hidden gem beach bc it’s not that crowded and very pretty.
I visit this park several times a week for swimming in the summer and walks along the dyke anytime throughout the year.
There are a dozen plus nice campsites right on the beachfront of Harrison Bay. The water height varies during the year. May 2023 has the boat launch temporarily closed due to high water. Virtually no beach area. Sandbags along the low spots. A picturesque campsite all year round. Enjoy! December 2024 - campground closed. But the winter season can be interesting for beach walking with lots of birds and decaying salmon. Maybe a bit stinky in some areas.
The campground is in a beautiful location; and has a great beach. (There is a boat launch too) A good place for families. The campsites along the beach were especially nice. It would be best to choose your campsite, not depend on being assigned a good one. I rated the campsite as a whole very high, but our campsite was not very desirable. It was very narrow, with no good place for our tent. On one side we had a motorhome only a few feet from our table, and on the other side we had a stinky outhouse that lots of people used frequently. Not only an unpleasant smell, but people walking continually past our tent which we had to pitch on the driveway because there was no other space. Still, the campsite is in a good location, and the Kilby Heritage Site close-by is a wonderful place to visit. The program there is so interesting and fun - we had a great day visiting the 1920's.
I really appreciate that the owners of Kilby Park take great care towards maintaining the site so well. No wonder it’s one of the most beautiful camp sites in town. Advice for new campers : please make sure to go over the terms and conditions and do follow them! High season booking availability goes by fast so make sure to book in advance. Max. Adults in campsite allowed 4 along with 4 children and 2 pets. Price for the booking is worth paying for. Looking forward to spending more time over the summer here at the park. Thanks Kilby Team for letting us have a wonderful time at your site!
