This address places it within the picturesque Kiser Lake State Park, approximately four miles northwest of St. Paris and about 34 miles north of Dayton, in Champaign County, Ohio. Its location in west-central Ohio makes it a relatively convenient drive for residents across a significant portion of the state, particularly those from Dayton, Columbus, and surrounding communities.
Accessibility to the campground is generally straightforward, with well-maintained state routes leading to the park entrance. Once inside the park, roads to the campground are typically easy to navigate for most vehicles, including RVs and trailers. The campground is directly adjacent to Kiser Lake and its beach, offering immediate access to these popular features.
It is important to note the seasonal nature of some park facilities. For instance, the marina and refreshment stand operate seasonally (typically spring until October), and the swimming beach is open from Memorial Day to Labor Day. While the campground itself is open year-round, certain amenities may not be available during the off-season. Reservations for campsites are generally required and can be made online or by phone through the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) system, allowing campers to choose their specific site. The park is known for its quiet atmosphere, and its smaller size compared to some larger state parks contributes to less overall traffic and a more relaxed feel upon arrival.
Kiser Lake Campgrounds offers a mix of camping options and essential services designed for a relaxing outdoor experience, though some amenities are more basic, aligning with its "gem" status. Here’s a detailed look:
- Diverse Campsite Options: The campground offers 77 campsites, catering to various preferences. This includes 20 electric sites, 50 non-electric sites, and specialized tent-only sites. All sites are equipped with a picnic table and fire ring for cooking and gathering. Two sites are ADA accessible, ensuring inclusivity.
- Cabins for "Glamping": For those seeking a bit more comfort, Kiser Lake State Park offers four cabin rentals: two "Camper Cabins" (CC1 and CC2) and two "Sherman Cabins" (SC3 and SC4). Camper Cabin #1 sleeps 4 with AC, mini-fridge, and microwave, plus a covered picnic area. Camper Cabin #2 is an A-frame for 2 with a futon, AC, mini-fridge, and microwave. Sherman Cabin #3 is ADA accessible, sleeps 4 in two rooms with heating/AC, mini-fridge, and microwave. Sherman Cabin #4 sleeps 4 with twin bunk beds, heating/AC, mini-fridge, and microwave. Each cabin includes a fire pit and picnic table.
- Group Camp Sites: Three dedicated group camp sites are available, located away from the main campground. These are ideal for larger gatherings, youth organizations, or family reunions, offering a more private communal experience.
- Basic Restroom Facilities: The campground primarily utilizes vault toilets, as noted in reviews. While primitive (non-flush), more recent information from ODNR suggests a "new bathhouse is open year round," indicating the presence of flush toilets and showers at the park. Visitors should confirm which facilities are at the specific campground section. Early reviews mentioned "no water, flush toilets, or showers," which may reflect an older setup or a specific section of the park. It's best to confirm the latest updates.
- Limited Water Access at Sites (Potentially): Older reviews suggest "no water" at individual campsites. However, Kiser Lake State Park's official site indicates "potable water" is available at the campground. There might be community spigots or a central water source. One review did mention "a small natural spring for water if you don't have your own," which could be a unique feature for intrepid campers. Given conflicting information, bringing your own water for direct site use is a safe bet.
- Recreation Amenities within Campground: The campground features a playground for children, a volleyball court, and a basketball court, providing entertainment options directly within the camping area.
- Reservations Recommended: All campsites and cabins require reservations, which can be made online or by calling the ODNR reservation line. Walk-up camping is generally not available, especially during peak seasons.

While some older reviews noted overgrown or poorly marked trails, the park generally offers scenic walks through its diverse ecosystems. There are also 10 miles of bridle trails for horseback riding enthusiasts.
- Family-Friendly Activities: Beyond camping, the park offers a swimming beach, playgrounds, picnic areas, and during peak season, organized activities, including Halloween-themed events noted in one review. This makes it a great spot for families with children.

Kiser is a lesser known gem if you are passing thru or just want a small get away. The beach and lake are right next to campground. Only draw back is not much shade when it's sunny and no water, flush toilets, or showers. There is a small natural spring for water if you don't have your own.
Very buggy at camp sites. Small and quite which is nice. Site 57 is the smallest and most exposed. Trails are overgrown and definitely single file. Lakes nice but lots of people fishing off sides so good luck finding a spot. If you zoom in truck is covered in biting flies. Have at least 10 bites on me and several more on my wife.
Great spot to camp!! They recently completed a new shower house, which are handicap accessible. There are "real" toilets in there as well. The lake is beautiful and great for fishing, kayaking and swimming. Kayaks and row boats can be rented at the marina. No motor boats are allowed on the lake.
Took my kids out there today, we had a blast!! So quiet and ppl seem so nice there. What i didnt understand is why some people were bringing their dogs on the beach when it says no dogs allowed on the beach, one dog pooped by the shore line it was so gross and the owner didnt even pick it up. I almost stepped in it.
Beautiful quiet lake-no motorized boats. Kayak and rowboat rentals available. PLEASE dispose of fishing line properly IT IS A HAZARD TO WILDLIFE! we found lots of line discarded around the marina 😢
