New York State is a treasure trove of diverse landscapes, from the Adirondack peaks to the Long Island shores. For those in the downstate and Catskill regions, the Upper Delaware River Valley offers a compelling alternative for outdoor recreation. K-Camp positions itself as a prime spot within this vibrant area, particularly appealing to those interested in water-based activities. It's important to set realistic expectations; while the allure of riverside camping and integrated activities like tubing is strong, prospective campers should be aware of the practical aspects and considerations that come with a lively and popular destination. Our goal here is to give you the unvarnished truth, empowering you to plan your trip to K-Camp with confidence and clarity, ensuring your New York outdoor adventure is as enjoyable as possible.
Kittatinny Canoes - K-Camp is strategically located at 3854 NY-97, Barryville, NY 12719, USA. This address places it directly on New York State Route 97, a scenic highway often referred to as the Upper Delaware Scenic Byway. Barryville itself is a charming hamlet in Sullivan County, nestled along the banks of the Delaware River, which forms the border between New York and Pennsylvania. This prime location is a significant draw for many campers, offering immediate access to the river's recreational opportunities.
Accessibility to K-Camp is generally straightforward for New York residents. For those coming from the greater New York City metropolitan area, the drive typically involves routes through the picturesque Catskill Mountains, often via Route 17 (Future I-86) connecting to local roads or directly via Route 97. The presence of the campground right on NY-97 means it is easily found and reached by vehicle. However, its proximity to a highway, as some visitors have noted, can also mean audible traffic noise, especially at night. For navigation, standard GPS systems will accurately guide you to the provided address. While the location offers convenience for river access, it's worth noting that internal navigation around the camp, especially concerning access to amenities like the restaurant, might require driving if previous pedestrian bridges are damaged, as some customer feedback suggests. This close proximity to both a major scenic route and the Delaware River defines K-Camp's geographical appeal.
Kittatinny Canoes - K-Camp primarily caters to those interested in active outdoor recreation, particularly on the Delaware River. The services offered are geared towards facilitating these activities alongside providing basic camping accommodations. Based on public information and customer feedback, here's an overview of the services you can expect:
- Campsites: K-Camp offers various types of campsites, including tent sites and potentially areas for RVs. Some sites are advertised as "Water view Rustic tent sites."
- River Activities: A major draw of Kittatinny Canoes is its core business of river excursions. Services include:

- Restroom Facilities: Basic restroom facilities are generally available for campers.
- Parking: Designated parking areas are typically provided for campers and those participating in river activities.

- Direct Delaware River Access: A premier highlight is the campground's immediate proximity to the Delaware River. This allows for convenient and direct access to various water-based activities without needing to transport equipment long distances.
- Integrated Water Sports: K-Camp is part of the larger Kittatinny Canoes operation, meaning campers often have direct access to and packages including tubing, canoeing, rafting, and kayaking. This all-in-one approach to river adventure is a significant draw.
- Scenic Location: The Barryville area along the Delaware River is known for its picturesque natural beauty, offering appealing views and an immersive outdoor environment.
- Traditional Camping Experience: For many, K-Camp offers a traditional camping experience with tent sites, campfires, and the sounds of nature (barring external noise factors).
- Family-Friendly Potential: The river activities, especially tubing, can be a big hit with families and groups looking for engaging outdoor fun.
- Group Accommodations: The presence of "mega-camp" areas, while a point of contention for some regarding quiet hours, does highlight its capacity to host large groups, which can be a feature for organized gatherings.
However, it is important for prospective campers to be aware of potential challenges highlighted by past visitors, such as the proximity to a highway (leading to noise), issues with enforcing quiet hours, and potential overcrowding in certain areas, which can impact the desired level of seclusion and tranquility. Additionally, facility maintenance, such as the condition of paths or the view from "water view" sites, has been a point of feedback.

It's a place where memories are made splashing down the river, sharing stories around a fire, and enjoying the unique blend of adventure and camaraderie that only a place like the Delaware River Valley can offer. If you're looking for an active, social, and river-oriented camping trip right here in New York, K-Camp should certainly be on your radar, provided you plan accordingly for the full experience it offers.

Customer Reviews
This place was honestly a nightmare. We chose it because of the included tubing and location right on the river, but unfortunately the river was closed due to flooding so that was a bust. The staff was grumpy when we got there - a little later after driving in a thunderstorm - and made odd comments, annoyed we didnt answer the phone 15 minutes earlier while driving. We were told the quiet hours were strictly enforce which is fine by us but HA - not true. We were supposed to have a more secluded site near the river which was unavailable due to flooding, we were just glad to get one. However, we were placed near what I can only describe as a "mega-camp" with over 40 people who were playing music LITERALLY 24 hours a day. We would ask them desperately to be quiet at 3am, 4am, 5am... they did not care. I would expect the camp to have staff monitoring quiet hours. ALSO less unique to our situation - this campsite is RIGHT NEXT TO A HIGHWAY which you can hear loudly allllll night. It was just terrible.
Our group has been coming here for the past 6 years. We loved the campsites in front of cedar rapids restaurant as they were right on the water. Unfortunately these are no longer booked. We ha e since switched to the Water view Rustic tent sites near the restaurant. It's a little misleading as there is basically no water view. The view is completely overgrown with weeds/shrubs/trees blocking the water. There used to be a bridge that you can walk to the restaurant/amenties. That got damaged and has not been replaced. We now have to drive. Last year we got into an argument with a maintenance worker about the tall, unkept grass and he yelled back it was just cut a couple days prior. We really like coming here as it's traditional. Just wish there was more attention to detail. It seems as if they are happy just letting it go instead of making it better. The wood that you buy for $10 a bundle this weekend was soaking wet, smoking like crazy and hard to keep going as well.
My family group has been camping in the region for years. My personal experience dates back to the early 1980’s. K-camp is the place to be with easy access to the river and canoe trips almost right from your tent door.
My favorite time of the year is when we plan our family trip to Kittatinny. Everyone is so welcoming, the environment is lovely. It’s always a good time here!
Great staff, location river view beautiful, some road noise but feels very tranquil with the river view. Would definitely stay again.
