We loved it here! The staff were absolutely amazing. They were super kind upon arrival. Their greeting was warm. They even left us a little painted pumpkin on our last day. They worked with us on a late check out. Besides the staff, the little island was gorgeous! The park was perfect for the dogs. We will definitely be back!

My husband and I stayed at Knife Island camp-ground in one of their bunk houses in October 2024. We arrived on a Friday and left on Sunday. We both would highly recommend staying here. It was peaceful, beautiful, and we had such an enjoyable time! The owners are kind, the shower house is very nice and clean, and the campground is kept up well. If you have children there is a playground and outdoor activities they will surely enjoy! It is also pet friendly which is great for fur baby owners!

Had a wonderful time in a very clean, beautiful campground. Our favorite part was the firewood delivery service. The wood was not wet in any way so it made a great fire without just being a smoky/ smoldering fire. First time in a long time where we went camping and had a perfect fire. Also the bathroom/ shower is very clean and nice to have so much room in the bathrooms. 4 stars only because of the train and traffic noise. Not something that can be helped by the owners so if you don't mind that, it's a great place to stay!

My Mom and I had a wonderful weekend getaway staying in the Bear Hug Cabin. The atmosphere is incredibly cozy and the campground is well maintained. The owners are very kind and welcoming. You can tell they love and take pride in what they do. The campsite is also within a close distance to Duluth and Cloquet, making it possible to explore and enjoy. 10/10 recommend!

Very friendly staff on the premises. Lots of port-o-potties throughout camp as well as the shower house with two available shower/bathrooms and a guest laundry. We had a pretty cool little campsite up some stairs. They are very dog-friendly, which was a big factor in choosing to stay there. No extra charge for them and waste bag stations throughout the site as well. We bring our own, but it's still nice to have. There is also a place to launch a kayak in the St. Louis. I had a hard time finding out anything about it online, but it was very smooth while we were there and people were fishing, too, if that's your thing. It's not too far from other places you may want to visit. We enjoyed Jay Cooke State Park as well as Duluth. There is a restaurant with a dog park nearby in Cloquet (Gordy's) and a dog park (Keene Creek) in Duluth. We mostly at camp, but many of the surrounding places have dog-friendly patios. The fire pits don't have grates, so if you cook at camp, know what you need ahead of time, be it grill, grate, tripod, coals, etc. Also, they charge the same for firewood as the local gas stations. I've been to places that mark it way up, but they did not, which I appreciate.

We stayed at Knife Island for 3 nights and it was wonderful. The bathrooms were always clean, even the port-a-potty. The owners were always so nice and greeted you with a smile. We stayed at site 22 and plan on returning soon. The sites were larger than most campgrounds and I can’t emphasize enough how clean the entire place is. You can tell they really care about their business. My son loved fishing from the island and caught many catfish, a walleye and even a rock bass! They have a large area for recreation (soccer, volleyball, badminton, frisbee) that’s great for the kids or even dogs to let some energy out. All around, I can’t recommend this place enough!

Knife Island Campground is an exceptional camping spot! We stayed at one of the walk-up tent sites and were thoroughly impressed. The trails leading to the tent spots are well-groomed, and the 12x12 platforms are well-built and level, making setup easy. The onsite bathrooms with showers are the best I've ever seen at a campground—clearly, a lot of care and attention went into their design and maintenance. Everything about our stay was fantastic. Highly recommend!
