Park is now managed and camping is booked online. One of the most beautiful places I have camped. I would not attempt to get in with a car unless you got some good ground clearance and it's not wet. Wish I had my 4 wheeler with me great looking trails.
Technically, this campground no longer exists. The land previously occupied by Rabbit Valley Campground has now been incorporated into the redeveloped Knowles Overlook Campground. Don't go by what you see in Google satellite view - there are nearly 20 distinct campsites, each with a picnic table and tent pad, some with parking loops, but most with just a small "layby" style parking space. The views are great and the vault toilets are reasonably well cared for; I've seen far worse. Went during the week and there wasn't much competition for a spot. Enjoyed myself a lot!
Beautiful camping area for both RV and tent camping. Popular area for Razors, quads and mountain biking. Pack it in and pack it out. Established bathrooms but no water. No trash cans either. The place can be a big dust bowl...secure your tents/awnings/anything that can blow away good. Lastly the place can get hot so prepare for creating shade for your area, keep wind in mind. Jouflas camp area can accommodate smaller RV's. We have a 25 foot RV. Pro tip...we went on 5pm-ish. All the spaces were taken...get up there early to grab a spot...not to say other spots are not available. Just may not be available in the Jouflas area... Pics I posted are not of the Jouflas area...we had to park/camp in another area...
Mountain biking, off-roading, and camping heaven. A new favorite for sure! 4x4 with good clearance is highly recommended. Very close to Western Rim trail for unparalleled mtb and off road adventures. Be sure to grab a slice of Za from Hot Tomato in Fruita before you go, you won't regret it.
Great campsites right off of 70, but a few miles back towards the Colorado River. The winds get pretty gnarly up there, so pack a low-profile tent if tent-camping.
