Kodachrome Bunkhouse Introduce
Welcome to Kodachrome Bunkhouse, a versatile and essential establishment within the Campgrounds & RV Parks category, offering much more than just traditional camping in the heart of Southern Utah's stunning red rock country. Located just a short drive from iconic natural wonders like Bryce Canyon National Park and Kodachrome Basin State Park, Kodachrome Bunkhouse serves as a central hub for outdoor adventurers seeking a comfortable and convenient base. It caters to a diverse range of travelers, from those looking for simple tent sites and full-service RV spots to individuals and groups who prefer the comfort of bunkhouse lodging or private cabins. This multifaceted approach makes Kodachrome Bunkhouse an excellent choice for a variety of budgets and travel styles, all while immersing guests in the breathtaking landscapes of the American Southwest.
The environment surrounding Kodachrome Bunkhouse is nothing short of spectacular. Situated in Tropic, Utah, the property is cradled by the vibrant hues of the region's famous red rock formations. The landscape is characterized by unique geological features, including sedimentary pipes found in Kodachrome Basin State Park, which give the area its distinctive charm. Guests are immersed in a high desert environment, where clear blue skies meet ancient, sculpted rock. The air is typically dry and clean, and the night skies are often dark enough to reveal a dazzling display of stars, a stark contrast to urban environments. The proximity to world-renowned national and state parks means that the natural beauty and opportunities for exploration are literally at the doorstep. The soundscape is generally peaceful, punctuated by the sounds of local wildlife and the occasional passing vehicle of fellow explorers. The climate varies dramatically with the seasons, from warm, sunny days ideal for hiking in spring and fall, to hot summers and cold, sometimes snowy, winters, offering different experiences depending on the time of year. This dramatic and picturesque environment is a significant draw for visitors to Kodachrome Bunkhouse.
As a comprehensive provider within the Campgrounds & RV Parks category, Kodachrome Bunkhouse offers an array of services and goods designed to meet the needs of all its guests. For RV enthusiasts, the campground provides full hookup sites, ensuring convenience with access to water, electricity (typically 30 and 50 amp), and sewer connections. This allows for comfortable, extended stays for those traveling in motorhomes and travel trailers. Tent campers will find designated sites, offering a more traditional and immersive outdoor experience. Beyond camping, Kodachrome Bunkhouse excels with its bunkhouse lodging and private cabins, providing a comfortable indoor option for those who prefer solid walls and a bed. These rooms often include amenities such as heating and air conditioning, private bathrooms, and comfortable beds. A key service for all guests is access to clean, modern restroom facilities, including hot showers, which are a welcome luxury after a day of hiking or exploring. A laundry facility is also typically available on-site, a valuable amenity for longer trips. The presence of a general store is crucial, offering essential camping supplies, snacks, beverages, and souvenirs. Many establishments in this region also include a cafe or diner, serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner, providing convenient dining options without needing to venture far. Wi-Fi access is often provided, usually free, in common areas or throughout the property, allowing guests to stay connected. The property aims to be a one-stop-shop for basic necessities, ensuring a hassle-free stay.
Kodachrome Bunkhouse boasts several features that make it particularly appealing to visitors. Its strategic location is perhaps its most significant asset, positioning it as an ideal base for exploring Bryce Canyon National Park, Kodachrome Basin State Park, and the vast expanses of Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument. This allows guests to minimize travel time and maximize their exploration of these iconic landscapes. The variety of accommodation options – bunkhouse rooms, private cabins, RV sites, and tent sites – is a unique feature that caters to a wide spectrum of preferences and budgets, making it accessible to more travelers. The "bunkhouse" concept itself is a distinct offering, providing affordable and comfortable dormitory-style lodging for individuals or groups, often with shared common areas that foster a sense of community among adventurers. Many of these accommodations are also pet-friendly, allowing guests to bring their beloved animals along for the journey, though specific pet policies (e.g., leash rules, additional fees) should be verified. Direct access or close proximity to ATV trails and extensive hiking opportunities is another major draw for active visitors. The availability of on-site dining and a general store simplifies logistics for campers, reducing the need to drive into nearby towns for supplies or meals. The overall atmosphere is often described as friendly and welcoming, with staff who are knowledgeable about the local area and can offer advice on trails and attractions.
When considering promotional information, Kodachrome Bunkhouse often advertises its proximity to major national parks and monuments as a primary selling point. Given its comprehensive offerings, it is likely to have varying rates for different accommodation types and seasons. Guests can expect to find pricing for bunkhouse beds, private rooms/cabins, RV sites (based on hookup type and size), and tent sites. Seasonal variations in pricing are common, with higher rates during peak tourist seasons (spring and fall) and potentially lower rates during the quieter winter months. While specific long-term discounts or package deals are not universally advertised, many campgrounds in popular tourist areas offer reduced rates for extended stays (e.g., weekly or monthly rates for RV sites). It is always advisable to check their official website or popular booking platforms (like Booking.com, Expedia, or RV-specific sites) for the most current pricing, availability, and any special promotions or discounts that might be running. Positive guest reviews often highlight the clean facilities, friendly staff, and excellent location, serving as organic promotional content. Furthermore, the inclusion of amenities like free Wi-Fi, laundry facilities, and showers, which add value to the stay, is frequently emphasized in their marketing. For groups or those planning extended adventures, inquiring directly about group rates or tailored packages could yield additional savings. The promise of a comfortable and convenient base camp for exploring Southern Utah's magnificent outdoors is the core of Kodachrome Bunkhouse's appeal.

Customer Reviews
We stayed for one night in the Paria bunkhouse in Kodachrome basin. It was one of our favorite places to stay on our entire trip. The bunkhouses are in a picturesque place with fantastic views. Hikes start from the campsite. The bunkhouses are also very comfortable with refrigerator and microwave. There is even heating for the cold days. Outside you have a bench and fire pit. We enjoyed the peace, the beautiful starry sky and the nice hikes in the quiet park.
We've stayed at the bunkhouses as well as utilized the tent camping area many times. The bunkhouses are clean, warm (or cool) inside, and simply perfect for a visit to Kodachrome as well as nearby Bryce Canyon. We're going back in a couple of days and can't wait!
They just built these two bunkhouses in 2018, and they are great! They are right behind the new laundromat and come with a twin over queen bunkbed and a futon for sleeping. The futon is also the seating along with a dining table and chairs. They are even heated and cooled and have an outdoor picnic table and grill. As of this review they are $105 a night. Don't forget to bring your own bedding!
