A perfect place for families with small kids! I took a recent winter trip to visit the National Park. The cabin rentals were perfect. The cabin had plenty of room for my young kids to each have their own space. The security staff was excellent! We arrived a bit late for check-in, and we were pleasantly surprised to find the cabin heated and ready to go right to bed. The camp security guard was a delight to talk with and I learned a lot about his art and creativity (he's a local artist with works in a nearby gallery). Overall, exactly what we needed for a short winter stay.
We stayed in our RV. First time here, came with friends who also RV camped. Absolutely love it! Will be back. RV spots are immaculate. Love that I could have an open wood fire...was definitely needed as it's February and nights are cold. Fishing on the river was epic...just steps away from our site. All Staff super friendly & a pleasure to deal with.

Site 67, right by the river, offers a tranquil atmosphere with stunning water views—perfect for those who love to fish, kayak, or simply enjoy the soothing sounds of the flowing river. Site 8, perched on a hill, provides a different kind of charm with beautiful elevated views and a sense of peaceful seclusion, making it great for stargazing at night. The campground is well-maintained, with clean facilities, spacious sites, and a friendly, accommodating staff that makes sure every camper has a great experience. Whether you're a tent camper, RV enthusiast, or just looking for a peaceful retreat, KRS Campground never disappoints. We've fallen in love with this place and will forever be loyal campers at KRS. The lady in the office was absolutely wonderful (apologies, I forgot your name). She was incredibly kind and made our family feel right at home throughout our stay. We truly enjoyed the campsite, especially with the beautiful Kern River nearby. By the end of our visit, our kids didn’t want to leave! I promised them we’d return in the summer to have more fun by the river. You definitely need to check this place out—the Kern River is absolutely beautiful!
We loved staying at KRS Camp James for Whiskey Flat Days. The cabin was spacious and included everything we needed from linens to cookware. Staff member Rose was so nice and very detailed when showing me everything the in the cabin. Thank you Rose for the great customer service!
