Campgrounds is close to town so very convenient to get supplies. Does have trash here but need to go to La Posa South for dump and water. Fills up fast the month of Jan. But still nice walking, hiking, ATV and bike riding. We are enjoying our time here and meeting new folks. Great sunrises and sunsets!
La Posa LVA is broken up into 4 sections. North, South, East, and West. The campgrounds are huge. We didn't have too much trouble finding a level spot. Close to town. Great for quads. We stayed at La Posa west. There are four large dumpsters on site. Potable water, dump site, and additional dumpsters are located at La Posa South, just down the road. Two week stay is $40.00, September to April $180.00. All campers must be self contained.
I had spent the winter here 2 years ago. This Septeber I went to BLM LTVA Imperial Dam near Yuma, but immediately left as the area was quite hilly (about 3 RVs to a hill) and a pond that requires a long walk to. At BLM LTVA La Posa West near Quartzite, AZ I find the desert flat there for many miles, and you can pick an area with close neighbors or neighbors far away. I like neighbors but not too close so I park about 500 feet away. The small town of Quartzite is only 5 miles away but it has everything you need including a Pilot & Loves fuel stations, Burger King & Subway and hometown restaurants and grocery stores. In January of each year Quartzite holds an RV venders & Gem venders under huge tents, that sells new stuff coming out for RVs and prescious and semipresious gems and handmade jewelry, brought directly from rock mines across the U.S. to Quartzite. I love the 72 degrees in the winter here! I pay $180 for a 7-month permit (includes a dump station, water station and trash dumpster. Unfortunately, in 2025 the 7-month permit for all BLM LTVA in Arizona & California are going up to $600 for 7-months. I can afford the $600 permit for 7-months as it is still cheaper than renting a site at one of the many campgrounds in Quartzite. My camper van has solar panels and there are several propane filling stations in Quartzite. I am a full-time RVer and will be back here next year to spend the winter!
1st time trying boondocking in AZ. Love it so far! I'm waiting to see what happens when January rolls around. We are upping our solar capacity to make it even better.

Had a great time at LA Posa and all the other site using my 2 week permit! Will definitely be back end of year! Thank you!
