Welcome to Lac Des Arcs Campground, a picturesque camping destination nestled in the heart of Alberta, Canada. Surrounded by mature trees and offering spectacular views of the Rocky Mountains, this campground is an ideal spot for nature lovers and outdoor enthusiasts. Whether you're pitching a tent, parking your RV, or simply looking for a peaceful retreat, Lac Des Arcs Campground provides a serene escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.
Located just a short drive from Canmore and Banff, the campground offers convenient access to some of Alberta's most popular attractions. While the campground itself does not have direct hiking trails, there are plenty of nearby spots to explore on foot. The lakefront area is perfect for canoeing and other water activities, though swimming is not recommended due to leeches. The campground features spacious and private sites, ensuring a comfortable and relaxing stay.
While Lac Des Arcs Campground offers a rustic camping experience, it’s important to note that amenities are limited. There is no drinking water available on-site, and only one hand pump and set of pit toilets are provided. Showers are not available, and the garbage dumpster can become full during peak times. However, the campground’s stunning natural beauty and convenient location more than make up for these minor inconveniences.
Customer feedback highlights the amazing atmosphere and great area for camping. Visitors appreciate the spacious and private sites, mature trees, and the cute playground for children. The proximity to Canmore and Banff is a major plus, making it easy to explore the surrounding areas. Don’t forget to bring your park pass and firewood for a complete camping experience!

Amazing atmosphere and great area to camp. No hiking trails attatched directyl to camp (that i noticed) but plenty of spots walking distance. If you're driving, its super easy to jet off to canmore or banff. Super great time. Dont forget to get a park pass and bring firewood!
Spacious, private sites, mature trees, spectacular views of mountains, cute playground. But… no drinking water (and one hand pump), constant hum of hiway, only one set of pit toilets, no showers, garbage dumpster was packed full, and within a few minutes of standing in the lake front we had leeches all over our feet—you can’t really swim (but yes to canoes, etc). Convenient location for access to Canmore and Kananaskis, but not a destination campground.
We booked here, knowing from other reviews that we'd be able to hear highway noise. We found it to be an acceptable level, and no noise from factory. The wind however was blowing constantly off the lake. Fortunately, the trees along the lake block the wind so sitting at our site was warm and comfortable. This campground has a variety of sites, some treed and some grassy open. Most are long and straight so it's easy to park a trailer or RV. Some are quite small at the end, with a firepit and picnic table just off the straightaway so a trailer door won't line up with the "living area". Choose carefully. Wood sales are not on-site. Pick up a tag at the entrance and hang it on your post. The truck comes at about 8:30am and 6:30pm to sell bundles for $10. Good playground: slides, monkey bars and climbing structure. No swings. Gravel base.
Even tho it is close to the highway, you can hardly hear the road noise the camp site was clean and secluded and a great spot for exploring
Small Campground with very little services near by. You are either in a grass site with no shade or camping in the dirt. The water near by is a great place to swim but not much else to do. Very close to Canmore and Banff so if all you need to do is sleep here it might work well for you.
