Way too expensive for what this park is! Over $1600/month with a Veteran discount and we weren’t even on paved site we were on a grass site. We are full timers and stay at a lot of parks much nicer than this for cheaper! From 8am-3pm Monday through Friday they had a crew of cutting down trees and running them through a wood chipper for the entire month! (It was LOUD!) on top of the tree crews there were trains starting at 3AM that blew their horns as they pass by the park… this too went on all day! The bathhouse is falling apart and in serious need of repair! The one decent sized shower has a faucet that is about to fall off… the other two showers have no water pressure and are the smallest we’ve ever seen! Maintaining water temperature was also a challenge…one minute freezing cold the next scalding hot! God forbid if someone flushed a toilet or was doing laundry while you were in the shower. The back half of the park is occupied by full time residents and they don’t maintain their sites… a lot of trash around their sites. It’s not the place for a quite camping experience! Not recommended for the price!
We stayed 3 nights. Staff polite and friendly. Campground needs maintenance. Most of the bathroom stalls marked out of order. Not clean either. We went into Charleston for the day. Took almost 2 hours to get back to the campsite in rush hour. There were a number of feral cats around. The hiking trail is not maintained and unusable.
We stayed for two weeks. It was a very nice experience. Diane in the office is kind and professional. Trying to add pics of the adorable white squirrel who calls this park home.
Nice campground, well kept, park roads a bit sloppy from "Snowmagedon 2025", but staff soon drug them and filled in potholes. We opted for a "pond view" patio site that had adequate parking for our 60' combo, in an area that seemed a bit newer than the non-patio sites (pull-thru/50A/water/sewer/picnic table w/umbrella/fire ring). We were immediately met by some "fowl" camp residents, but they approved and kept moving on. No real camp "store", but very nice staff at the office There is propane service on-site and you're 20-30 minutes from downtown Charleston. And as never fails...train tracks and active trains very near the campground...what is it with trains and campgrounds?? Would definitely return.
Very very clean bathhouses!! Nicely kept grounds where the vacationers are using sites a little narrow but adequate Many full time residents but ok as they were in a different section. however some of the sites had a lot of junk around which brings the look and feel of whole park down. Mgmnt should stay on top of that Will be back next fall!!
