Lake Alice Campground Introduce

Lake Alice Campground, part of the Campgrounds & RV Parks category, is located in Raton, New Mexico (NM 87740). You can contact them at (575) 445-5607 or +1 575-445-5607.

Based on customer reviews, Lake Alice Campground is situated in a beautiful area, making it appealing for nature lovers, especially those who enjoy hiking. One guest with a 32 ft. 5th wheel found site #4 to be perfect for their needs and highlighted the scenic beauty of the location and the friendliness of the camp host as significant positives.

However, it's important to note that the campground offers basic amenities, including electricity and simple bathrooms. There is also a basic dump site located in the middle of the camp. While the natural surroundings and nearby attractions, including hiking trails, are a draw, the campground is described as not having a lot of extra amenities.

Another guest who stayed at site #12 over Memorial Day weekend had a less favorable experience. They found the site layout to be unusual, situated in the middle of a road with amenities split on either side. The proximity to a pit toilet, with traffic passing through their site to access it, caused discomfort. While they noted the pit toilet was exceptionally clean, the lack of privacy due to closely spaced sites was a concern. Additionally, a statewide fire ban during their stay was disappointing. They did enjoy the nearby Coal Camp trails at the welcome center, finding them informative and offering beautiful views. Regular bathrooms and showers are available near the welcome center but close early at 7 pm.

Overall, Lake Alice Campground offers a beautiful environment and access to hiking, with a friendly camp host being a noted positive. However, potential visitors should be aware that the amenities are basic, and some campsites may lack privacy or have unusual layouts. For local users in Singapore considering a visit to Raton, New Mexico, and looking for a campground with natural beauty and hiking opportunities, Lake Alice Campground could be an option, but it's advisable to manage expectations regarding amenities and site privacy based on recent reviews.

Loved this campground. We had #4 which was perfect for our 32 ft. 5th wheel. Beautiful area. Pictures are taken at our site. The 5 stars were for the beauty and friendliness of the camp host. Don't expect a lot of amenities except for electricity, basic bath rooms and a rather simple dump site right in the middle of the camp. Lots to do and see around here. If you love to hike this is your place.

We were visiting from CO for Memorial Day weekend since everything in CO was booked up. We stayed at site 12, the pictures on the website don’t do the site justice. It was a really really weird site basically in the middle of a road, electrical and water on one side and the table, fire pit, bear box, and grill on the other side. The pit toilet is right next to it, which isn’t the best because everyone is passing through our site to go to the bathroom, which they didn’t need to do because they could have walked a few extra feet to go around our site. We also had several people drive through our site when they weren’t supposed to. It made us very uncomfortable. The pit toilet is the most clean ive ever seen, not smelly at all nor a lot of bugs, thankfully. There was a state wide fire ban which sucked, especially since it was pouring the last 2 days so there was no need for it in our area, we were really looking forward to having a fire. It was not the best time though, I think if we had a different site, the weather was good, and we could have had a fire… it would have been much better but all the sites are very close together, not much privacy at all. We booked from Friday to Monday, we ended up leaving Sunday morning due to the nasty weather Friday and Saturday we decided we had enough. We were able to get in a decent hike by the welcome center, they have a few trails there, we did the coal camp trails, it was very informative and beautiful views. Cool to learn and see how they lived over 100 years ago when it was a coal camp. They have regular bathrooms/showers near the welcome center, but they close them at 7pm, wish they left them open longer or 24 hours. The people who work in the welcome center are very friendly and we left with a lot of knowledge of the area. But all in all, we wouldn’t stay here again.

Really nice camp ground and the camp host Dorie is so kind and helpful. Wildlife in abundance and fishing or hiking is a must. Really enjoyed our stay until a tent dweller ask us to turn off our bug zapper at 8 pm cause it was too loud. Well… that means it is doing its job. Loved the location. Thanks Dorie

The campground was clean and well maintained. The camp hosts were working the entire time we were there, clearing brush and trees for the upcoming season. They were nice and the rangers came everyday to monitor the place. Yes the pipes froze but that is no ones fault. Trails start right across the street and beautiful views no matter where you park.

Reasonable campsites with central pit toilets. Water was currently under a boil order. Picnic table at site. Right off road but there was not much traffic. Reasonable prices. Self pay station with envelopes.
