I highly recommend Lake Casitas Recreation Area for camping, day trips, or a fun family outing! As a local, I've enjoyed this spot for years. The recently renovated water park is fantastic, with a great kids' play area and lazy river. There are plenty of clean restrooms and showers, plus a convenient on-site store. Camping here is amazing, especially now that the lake is full. Don't miss out on this hidden gem! One of these pictures shows the restaurant with the boat loading ramp next to it. That ramp had not been used for many many years, so it is amazing to see it operational now since the water level has risen.
Great place to explore nature. I saw deers, rabbits, squirrels, frogs, birds, and yellow wasps ( one of them got me ðŸ˜). Showers are $1 per coin and it gives 4 minutes of water. I had some annoying and loud campers near us. I called the parked ranger at 1 AM. They apologized for the inconvenience since quiet time starts at 10 PM. They came and told them that they needed to be responsible adults or leave. The following night. They still stayed there, but actually got quiet before 10PM. My third night. They had left. I was able to see some shooting stars!! 🌠Their store has ice and other stuff & food that may be needed. The price is high. Make sure to pack all you need, so you may only use the store for ice if any. Water park is great for the whole family. I personally prefer Monday -Thursday because it is less crowded. No line for the water slide and the lazy river is so relaxing. Remember to pack your sunblock. No food allowed inside, but can go out and back the same day multiple times. There is a food truck with also high prices and lines. Make sure to make your own food and snacks if you have a large family and want to stay on a low budget. I recommend having snacks every 3 hours for children. And reapply sunblock. Have fun!!
This campground is huge and popular in summer. Since it has a mini water park! It does cost extra and they allow certain hours to attend per ticket you buy. The camping spaces are a little small but there’s also playgrounds at almost every section. Very family friendly. The lake is large and though they don’t allow swimming if you have a boat you can enjoy it.
Great campsite. We stayed in Creekside #C14. The creek is right behind the site so it was nice. Our kids had an amazing time. The only bad part about it was that kids from other sites kept running through our site to access the creek. I think it had to do with nobody being in the site next to us #C15 and there being a large boy scouts group staying the same weekend. Their parents certainly didnt care to tell them not to cut through sites. Either way it was very annoying. I think getting both C14 and C15 would be great bc they are literally side by side.
Our campsite was beautiful. This place has great potential. We camped here for a weekend and went to the water park one day. Great facility but the staff allows guests to treat the place poorly. Both nights loud music playing way past the 10pm quiet time. People hogging the public water spigots. People blatantly walk thru your campsite. The water park bucket that dumps on the slide structure is insanely big and terrifies little kids. The lifeguards at the water park stare at their phones, talk to their neighbors, and stare off into space. Management allows them to not do their jobs. Toilet paper will usually not be in the bathrooms. The guests here just don’t take good care of the place and aren’t respectful to their neighbors. And the staff lets it happen. I am glad I come to try it out. But I doubt I will go back.
