Lake Como National Recreation Trailhead (recgovnpsdata) Introduce

Welcome to Lake Como National Recreation Trailhead (recgovnpsdata), located in Darby, Montana. As a part of the Campgrounds & RV Parks category, this trailhead provides access to various outdoor recreational activities centered around the scenic Lake Como.

The area offers a 9-mile loop trail around the lake, which, according to visitor feedback, might be less favorable than an out-and-back route to the waterfalls. There are waterfalls along the trail, including an upper falls located a short distance from a trail split.

Lake Como itself is described as very nice, but visitors should be aware that the beach area can become quite busy, especially during peak times. The lake's small size can result in choppy water due to boat activity, making it less glassy during busy periods.

The trailhead provides basic amenities, including a few picnic tables and outhouse bathrooms, catering to visitors looking to spend a day enjoying the outdoors.

For those interested in hiking and exploring natural scenery, the Lake Como National Recreation Trailhead offers opportunities to experience the beauty of the area. However, visitors should be prepared for potential crowds and boat activity, particularly around the lake's beach area.

If you're planning a visit, consider exploring the waterfall trails for potentially more rewarding hiking experiences. The available picnic tables make it a suitable location for a day trip to enjoy the lake and surrounding natural environment.

Did the 9 mile loop around the lake. Would have been better I think just to go out and back to the falls. Wasn’t my favorite. There is a falls above the fall a bit up the trail split.

Very nice lake but crazy busy beach area these days. Because it's small the boats keep the water choppy so never very glassy until people leave. There are a few picnic tables and a few out house bathrooms.

Relatively level hike to the falls. Water level super low. A bit of a hike down to beach area and across to launch kayaks. But still beautiful. A great place to enjoy the day.

Nice hike to the waterfall/bridge at the west end of the lake. 6.15 miles out and back from the parking lot w/ very little elevation gain/loss. Beautiful hike, roaring waterfall, and spectacular Montana spring weather! Wildflowers are just starting to bloom along the trail.

Great walking trail that loops around the lake! Beautiful view of the lake throughout the whole walk. Very dog friendly! Highly suggest!
