It's a beautiful park, but there's no swimming and zero campsites close to the water. The docks are all closed off and you can't launch your watercraft or ANT aquatic items if they have been used anywhere outside of Santa Clara in the past 7 days (they quarantine your items for 5 days, but will be allowed back on the water after a 7 day period). If you allow them to put a lock device on your items to prevent you from using it ANYWHERE OTHER THAN Santa Clara parks, they will allow you to skip the full inspection; but you still have to pay the I section fee and dock fee (which is all separate from the entrance and parking fees. You also have to pay for each item (Bike, Kayak, scooter, boat, trailer, camper, car, # of people, each pet). Basically, it's a beautiful spot if you want limited hiking and sitting a good distance from the water.
Great place for family camping. Nice big cap site with 2 car parking. The best part is its all grass, no dirt. Very safe , no wild animals so you can feel safe at night. Restrooms and showers are very approachable from all camp site. Great hike area and lake view is cherry on the cake.
Camping with dad and daughter was what I needed can’t wait to go back fishing awesome I thought at first no phone I can’t do this but after a couple hours I really liked it and enjoyed just nature
First time at this campground and there is alot to like. Unfortunately the rangers told us that we cannot go in the water since we can get sick from the algae that was growing there. We had two dogs and they said not to let them near the water because it will get them really sick for the same. No matter the campgrounds was great. Lots of shady areas where you can set up the tents. This campground includes a bathroom and shower. There is also a store at the entrance so you can purchase ice, firewood, and snacks. There is a river by our campsite and a lake just a few minute drive from said campsite. The lake is beautiful and was cooler since there was a small breeze coming in. This can be a good or bad thing but this is a family camp ground. It was me and a few other adults without kids and next to us were a bunch of kids that were disrespectful and loud. Parents barely interjected when they were on our side of the campground. On the other side we had parents who taught their kids to be respectful and not disturb us while we were hanging out. Had beers and chatted with them. Overall it was a good time despite the little children being loud past quiet hours.
Really great family friendly campsite! Awesome lake nearby with lifeguards and free life vests for the kiddos. Wonderful for picnics and fun. Be aware that there are ticks and poison oak (although the rangers have done their best to make sure there aren't, it is nature, so there's that). We went for memorial day weekend and it was HOT! but the experience was great, cool families all around, everyone was very respectful about noise and music levels. If you forgot or didn't buy enough firewood, a ranger drives around in a truck in the early evening and you can buy extra on the spot. The store is open until 9, and there are family activities at the amphitheater (maybe every weekend? When we were there, there was a kid's movie outside right around sundown time – so cool!) Really looking forward to going back soon. Incredible sky at night, big open spaces for my 5 year old to run around, nice paved loop around the campsite for bike and scooter riding, nice flat level ground to set up a tent. If you are new to camping or if someone in your family thinks that "it's not for them", give this one a go. They will be pleasantly surprised, and you just might make a camper out of them. Loved this spot. Will be back. Also: free showers!! And they are clean and great!! (So are the bathrooms)
