According to one positive review, Lake Forest Resort boasts superb facilities, including a boat and swim dock, laundry services, and a clubhouse with Wi-Fi, all set within a forest environment directly on Great East Lake. This reviewer highlighted it as a fun place for senior couples to socialize and enjoy games such as cards, Bocce, and a 9-hole Cayman golf course. They also mentioned the allowance of fires at individual campsites.
However, another recent review presented a contrasting experience. This reviewer, who lives and works within an unspecified local distance, reported being denied the ability to camp at Lake Forest Resort. They described the person they interacted with as very rude and abrupt, suggesting that decisions might be made on a person-to-person basis. This reviewer recommended trying Ivanhoe Lake Campground instead, noting its welcoming and friendly atmosphere and its location being on the way to Lake Forest Resort.
Based on these reviews, Lake Forest Resort appears to offer attractive lakeside amenities and a social environment particularly geared towards senior couples. However, potential local campers should be aware of a reported negative experience regarding restrictions based on proximity of residence and workplace, as well as concerns about the manner in which this was communicated. It may be advisable for local users to inquire directly about any such policies before attempting to book a stay.

Superb facilities including Boat / swim dock, laundry and Clubhouse w/ wifi located in a forest setting right on Great East Lake. Fun place for senior couples to fellowship and play games including cards, Bocce and a 9 hole Cayman golf course. 🔥 You can enjoy a fire at your site too.
My wife and I thought it would be nice to vacation while still working, something we couldn’t do if we took our camper north as we usually would. But apparently you can’t camp at lake forest resort if you live and work within an undisclosed distance. The man was very rude and abrupt. I think he decides on a person to person basis. Ivanhoe lake campground is welcoming and friendly. You have to drive by the to get to LFR. Try someplace else!
It was really nice. Lake is nice. Golf course is nice. Lots of big trees everywhere. Some places we’ve been aren’t like that. Being 55+ it’s very quiet. Some places we’ve been aren’t like that, either!
This is an over 50 campground with deep campsites and crushed stone for the RV. With the trailer unhooked, we still had 25 feet from the truck to the road. The water and electric were near the road so bring double length of utility connections. Sewer inlet was midway down the site. The owners Judy & Dave treated us very nicely. There is a sweet little par 3&4 golf course at the campground, nice boat launch and docks. Plenty of chairs at the water. The lake is crystal clear water and beautiful. We did not have cable but got 8 TV stations with our antenna. There is no wifi but that is okay... it's nice to disconnect. The seasonal folks appear to have cable/internet. The place is kept up very well and has lots of scheduled activities for the adults like bingo, shuffleboard, golf, karaoke, etc... There is a nice tent area with water & electric. Lots of fun and nice restaurants nearby. We didn't see any bath houses as this place is more geared to seasonals with a few full hookup transient sites. We did see the laundry room with plenty of units. Being an over 50 place, there are no playgrounds and pools. It is wonderfully quiet and peaceful. We enjoyed our stay here and will be back. Joe & Dani.
A secret gem of a place that is a quiet, beautiful and a haven from the crowded noisy summer campgrounds. This is mostly a seasonal getaway for retired people which is exactly what we like. They have a few transient spaces and could accommodate our 40 foot 5th wheel and long bed dually truck with no problems and tons of room to spare. Lovely shaded sites, so not so good for satellite, but the seasonals can subscribe to cable. No wifi at the sites either, but our AT&T phones and hotspot worked great at the campground. They have a beautiful spot on Great East Lake for swimming or kayaking, a nice 9 hole golf course, an extra clean and nice laundry with a ton of new machines. You can walk or ride bikes for miles around the complex and all the seasonals we met were very friendly. We would definitely come back and are even considering becoming seasonals there in the future. Judy and Dave are very welcoming and work hard to make this a little slice of heaven! One of the nicest places we've stayed so far in our journeys!
Excellent campsites in a superb forested venue. Complete with Laundry, clubhouse (Wifi) I'mand 9 hole golf course- it truly is an RV resort.
