Lake George Barrs Hammock Campsite of St Johns River WMD Introduce

Nestled in the heart of Florida, the Lake George Barrs Hammock Campsite of St Johns River WMD offers a unique and tranquil camping experience. Located at 8CRQ+6V Park Villas, Florida 32190, this campground is a hidden gem for those seeking a peaceful escape into nature. Surrounded by tall pine forests and overlooking the stunning Lake George, this campsite provides a perfect blend of seclusion and natural beauty.

The campsite features its own gated entrance and clear camping signs, ensuring privacy and a hassle-free experience. Unlike other campsites where visitors might wander onto your site, Lake George Barrs Hammock Campsite is designed to give campers their own private space. The nearby trail leads through the pine forest, offering a scenic walk that ends at the lake or the fire line roads. The lake itself is a breathtaking sight, especially during sunset when the sun dips below the horizon, casting a golden glow over the water.

While the campsite is a haven for those seeking quiet and solitude, it’s important to note that the old water well on-site is no longer functional, and the sandy terrain between the campsite and the lake can be challenging for vehicles, particularly for those with 2WD. Solo campers should exercise caution, as the area is accessible by vehicle and may attract some unwanted visitors. However, for those who come prepared, the rewards of this serene location are well worth it.

Customer feedback highlights the peaceful and quiet atmosphere of the campsite, with many visitors praising the privacy and natural beauty. One camper described it as "one of my favorite places to camp," noting the unique gated entrance and the stunning lake views. Another mentioned the joy of wandering through the pine forest and the picturesque sunset over the lake. While some caution was advised regarding the sandy terrain and the need for preparedness, the overall sentiment was overwhelmingly positive, making Lake George Barrs Hammock Campsite a must-visit for nature lovers.

Its a middle of nowhere campsite. The old water well onsite does not work any more. The section between the camp site and the lake has spots of very loose sand. If you drive a car or 2WD high probability of getting stuck on that part. I wouldnt recommend it for solo campers because its accesible by vehicle and this area has same bad people about.

One of my favorite places to camp. Very quiet and peaceful. Campsite has its own gate and camping signs which is different than many other SJRWMD campsites where the gate is at the front and people often wander onto your site and then get angry your camping there and “blocking the trails” until they realize their own stupidity. There’s a trail not far off the campsite that wanders through the tall pine forest a bit before dumping you out at the lake in one direction or the fire line “roads” in the other. The lake is gorgeous and the sun sets right over the water.
