The park prides itself on having very large campsites, ensuring that visitors have ample room for their setups, whether it's a tent, RV, or just a desire for more personal space. This generous sizing is a significant advantage for those who prefer not to feel cramped during their outdoor excursions. The beautiful Lake Hanska itself is a central feature, offering a vast body of water for various activities, and the presence of a really nice beach further enhances the appeal for swimmers and sunbathers alike.

While the natural beauty and spaciousness are undeniable draws, it’s also important to have a clear picture of what to expect. The park is diligently cared for, showing that efforts are made to maintain its natural charm and facilities. As with many outdoor settings, especially those surrounded by natural elements, encounters with insects can be part of the experience. It's a common characteristic of lakeside environments and something to be prepared for, perhaps by bringing appropriate repellents, especially if visiting during the warmer months when insect activity is typically higher.

Another unique aspect noted by past visitors is the occasional ambient noise from what is believed to be a nearby corn drying plant. While its presence is not year-round, it’s worth being aware of, as it contributes to the local, agricultural soundscape. This could be a very cool park but the bug problem (mosquito, noseeums, Asian beetles, flies, and more) is overwhelming. We are here in October, I can't imagine what this is like in the summer. The campground is about 30% full and no one is outside. There is a really nice beach and Lake Hanska is large and beautiful. The campsites are huge. The facilities are tired. Its not that the place is not cared for because clearly someone is doing a nice job with what they have. Finally, there is a plant that I think is drying corn? There is noise from this 24/7. I have no idea if that is unique to this time of year? Loved kayaking on the lake. Looks like there is good fishing too.

Great place to camp. Good fishing, clean park and facilities. Swimming beach is a short walk down a trail. Not uncommon to see wild deer, turkeys and other animals.
