I stayed in one of the Lake Hope Iron Furnace cabins this past week for a work training and had a wonderful stay! The cabin was a great price, clean, and to my surprise had more amenities than a hotel! The cabin had a furnace but I still enjoyed making a fire in the fireplace at night, cooking dinner in the fully equipped kitchen (they even provided any cooking ware or utensil I could possibly need), fresh clean bedding and towels, cable tv, a nice hot shower. I honestly wish the cabin was my actual house. I am shocked that I appeared to be the only one staying in the cabins, it is winter but I think these cabins would make for a great vacation in any season. Thanks for having me I will definitely be back!
Went camping with a buddy of mine for two nights (had to cut it short to one night because of bad weather). The area was clean and peaceful. However, we stayed at campsite 168, and boy is it HILLY. This site is set on an incline and it really did not help us sleep that night. Trying to set up a chair close to the fire was rather hard too since you either felt like you were falling forward, sideways, or backward. Over all though, it wasn't terrible. I'd definitely go back but will have to make sure the plot we chose isn't at an angle.
Overall nice campgrounds and park. The campgrounds is one long winding road on a hill. Most camping pads are not suitable for RV or TT, very short, sloped and uneven. Road is tight and pad is tight. Larger rigs will have difficulty. During our stay the upper shower house was closed. The lower shower house and restroom were clean and well kept. We had heavy rains during our stay. The road at the entrance to the park flooded (not impassable), along with several other side roads and trail.
The cheap cabins are great! Perfect for a weekend getaway. They are 10x10 and has heating for 40°+ , AC window unit, and a mini fridge. The little parking spot is up a steep hill from the cabin with a grill, fire ring, and bench. We do not recommend the campground for tent camping at least to section open during winter because the hills are so steep and there's no where level to set up tents.
Lake Hope is one of my favorite places to go camping!!! I fell in love with this campground and area. Best hiking trails around and so much forest to explore! I've been coming to lake hope for years now and it's always a great time camping. I love finding new campsites within the park that I've never camped at before, makes each trip special to me. Go to lake hope you won't be disappointed! Get out and explore!
Such a wonderful experience! Staff were so welcoming. Our camp site (038- no electric) had a beautiful view and was set off enough from others to feel private. It was close to the lodge and lake. Plenty of amenities at the welcome center and firewood (cash only). I’ll def be back for another long, relaxing weekend at Lake Hope campgrounds.
Always consider the context of a bad review, like the irrational dishonest 1 star bellow. As soon as I saw the spider comment I made a note, review is NOT credible This is a great campground, clean, well cared for and a great place to enjoy, NATURE. If you have low tolerance for any part of nature get a hotel room. This campground is close to great trails, landmarks and other attractions. A must stay.
