Lake Junaluska Campground Introduce
Welcome to Lake Junaluska Campground, located at 50 Camp Adventure Dr, Waynesville, NC 28785. As a part of the Campgrounds & RV Parks category, this campground offers a unique experience with both positive and challenging aspects, as reflected in customer reviews.
Location and Environment:
Lake Junaluska Campground is situated near Lake Junaluska, offering proximity to the lake and a walking path. However, a significant concern is the need to cross a busy four-lane highway to access these amenities. The heavy traffic and lack of a safe crossing, such as a crosswalk or bridge, pose a safety risk. Additionally, some sites are close to the highway, resulting in noticeable traffic noise. The campground is also noted to have a religious affiliation, with many activities centered around Christian themes.
Services and Features:
- Kind and helpful campground hosts.
- Access to a walking path near Lake Junaluska (requires crossing a busy highway).
- Bathroom facilities with older plumbing, which have experienced maintenance issues such as back flooding.
- Limited shuttle service, requiring guests to cross the highway on foot.
- Religious activities and events.
- Contact information: Phone: (828) 452-5887, Mobile: +1 828-452-5887.
Customer Feedback:
Customer reviews consistently praise the kindness and helpfulness of the campground hosts. However, the location's challenges, particularly the need to cross a dangerous highway, are a significant concern. The small size of the park and the noise from traffic are also drawbacks. Additionally, some guests reported issues with the bathroom facilities, including plumbing problems and cleanliness concerns. The religious focus of the campground is also a factor to consider.
Promotional Information:
Lake Junaluska Campground offers a unique camping experience in Waynesville. While the staff is known for their exceptional service, potential guests should be aware of the location's challenges, including the need to cross a busy highway and the presence of traffic noise. We recommend careful consideration of these factors when planning your stay. Please contact us for further details and to discuss your camping needs.

Customer Reviews
The campground hosts are so kind and helpful. However the company or people that own it advertise a walking trail. Well there is no walking trail. You have to cross a 4 lane highway with a ton of traffic. My oldest almost got hit by a speeding car the first day. ALL of the activities are across this highway. There are areas that have sidewalks but they are not continuous. I cannot believe they have not put in a crosswalk or some kind of bridge that goes over the road for foot traffic. There is no shuttle offered either. The bathrooms have very old plumbing. The bathroom closest to us was shut down one day because toilet water was back flooding. They did send maintenance the following day and reopened them however the water continued to back flood all over the floor. The camp hosts did their best to keep it clean. Tent campers were smoking in the bathroom which had me sick for one of the days we were there. It is a fairly quiet campground unless you are in a spot near the 4 lane. It also should be noted that it is a religious campground and many of there activities are Christian centered.
We recently stayed at a lake Junaluska Campground where the staff was incredibly kind and helpful, which we greatly appreciated. However, the park itself was quite small and there was a lot of loud traffic, which impacted our overall experience. While it is close to the lake and offers access to a nice walking path, there is unfortunately no safe way to legally cross the road to get there. This made it challenging to fully enjoy the surrounding area. Overall, while the staff was wonderful, the park's location and traffic noise were significant drawbacks for us.
Small, clean campground close to everything, great location. The only draw back is the road noise, so run your AC or fan and the road noise won't be as bad. Price is very reasonable for this area. But the BEST part of staying here for 3 days was Ben and Sandy. They go out of their way to help you, to make you comfortable and help with your needs. We will absolutely stay here again!! Bonus: This is a Christian CG.
It all depends on your site. Sites 220-224 where we were to originally go with our camper van were a joke. I would not consider those campsites, more a parking space with everyone on top of each other. Sites 210-215 were kind of cute with their own deck and I might consider returning if I had one of those. After looking at the site we were supposed to go, 221, we asked to be moved and luckily one of the large RV sites in the 100 loop was open. But that was just a big open space and we were right up against the road which was very noisy and hot. Not sure about the other sites. The bathrooms were OK, place could use some maintenance as our picnic table was un-useable with warped boards and it was overdue for a mowing. You will take your life in your own hands crossing the road to get to the Lake area. The saving grace was the check in lady who was very helpful and friendly.
Love staying at Lake Junaluska RV Park and Campground every year for event at Haywood County Fairgrounds. Will be returning next year again.
Camp host very nice helped us clean up glass jar of food that dropped out of car. APT nice and stocked with dishes, towels, sheets, pillows and TP. Priced for size and age.
We stayed in our motorhome and visited the local and Asheville area. It was a great location! The camp hosts were so very helpful, too! We look forward to visiting the area again, and we'll be staying at the campground again!
