We enjoyed a quiet, peaceful stay in a large 2 bedroom cabin overlooking a tree lined lake. The cabins are elevated above the lake so you can easily see over the trees and watch the sunset. There was a campfire ring where we had a relaxing fire to warm up by. The cabins sleeps 6 people with a fully equipped kitchen, AC, heat, all linens, 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, fireplace, porch and living room. This is great place to unwind and relax. Hilly roads that travel around the lake make for fun bicycling. A half hour away is another bicycle trail called the General James A. Van Fleet State Trail that is a flat railroad trail passing through the Green Swamp. We saw turtles, birds and a very large 8 foot alligator sunning himself beside the trail! Lake Louisa State park has kayaks for rent, launching sites to put in your own Kayak, and campgrounds for RV and tent camping. Also nearby is Dade Battlefield State Park where they do reenactments in January 2025 of the Seminole Indian battle that took place there long ago.
Lake Louisa State Park offers beautiful scenery, especially around Lake Dixie, which was very calm and perfect for photos. However, don't expect much wildlife—we didn’t spot any animals during our visit. The beach area was a bit underwhelming; the water color wasn’t the most inviting, and honestly, I don’t know anyone who would feel comfortable swimming there. Another odd thing—there were people running right in the middle of the road, which felt a bit unsafe. Despite these quirks, the park's peaceful atmosphere and photo opportunities made it a worthwhile stop.
Awesome state park! So much to see and do. Kayaking or canoeing or fishing on demand! Great place to explore on bikes also. We were camping only 1 night so not much time to see it all. Beautiful campground and our site had pretty good privacy. Usual picnic table and fire ring. Nice bath house with showers. Laundry available and nice outdoor sink to clean up things/dishes. Would love to stay here again!
This park is a great slice of wild Florida. Beautiful vistas, excellent trails, lots of wildlife and birds. Rustic camping sites, RV section, and a few cabin areas as well. Perfect for biking and hiking.
I do not recommend the Eco-Tents. It’s sold as Glamping / Luxury Carefree Campsite but nowhere in the website, nor in the confirmation email, the campers are warned that there is not running water (just a bottle of water) nor electricity. Our burner did not work, it was all broken and the grill was rusty and falling to pieces. If you need to go to the bathroom in the middle of the night, you need to drive. There should be a rug in the entrance of the tent that is full of sand. Also, our tent had a hole useful for wasps and flies to get inside. The table and chairs were made of plastic which is not eco-friendly. All for the eco-price of $120 per night, before taxes. For this price, facilities should be better. Yes, the park is beautiful!
