Lake Michigan Campground Introduce

Welcome to Lake Michigan Campground, located at 3853 US-2, Moran, MI 49760. As a part of the Campgrounds & RV Parks category, this campground offers a rustic and scenic camping experience along the shores of Lake Michigan.

Lake Michigan Campground provides spacious campsites, with site #13 being particularly praised for its size, accommodating large RVs. The campground offers direct access to a clean beach, accessible via a walking path through the woods and down a sand dune, or by using the nearby steps from the parking lot. The beach itself is rocky, so swim shoes are recommended.

The campground is rustic, meaning it does not offer water or electric hookups. However, a dump station is available at their sister campground, free of charge. The outhouse toilets are noted for their cleanliness, and the campground is well-maintained by the hosts.

The hosts, Jacque and John, have received high praise for their hospitality, providing local insights and even inviting guests for coffee. They are described as friendly and helpful, contributing to a positive camping experience.

However, one reviewer noted an issue with site #1, where a tripod, presumably for internet access, was placed within the paid campsite. While this did not significantly impact their short stay, it raised concerns about shared site usage. Potential visitors to site number one should be aware of this.

Despite the minor issue with site #1, Lake Michigan Campground offers a beautiful and natural camping experience with direct beach access. The campground is well-maintained, and the hosts are generally very accommodating.

We had an extremely good site #13 large enough for our 33 ft class C RV. We tow our car, took car off and backed in out two wheel dolly attached. There is a walking path up a hill through the woods and down a Big sand dune to the beach. Easier to take the approx 12 steps down by parking lot.(within walking distance) site was very level. Traffic on major highway was heard but did not bother our sleep. No water or electric which was expected. And dump station at their sister camp free of charge. Jacque and John, the hosts were spectacular. Gave us insight to lots of places nearby to eat and visit. Even invited us up for coffee. Met them again at the parking lot steps to beach. Wonderful company. Very clean out house toilets, dump on site. saw John out many times checking property and visitors. Beach was clean but Lake Michigan is rocky bring swim shoes.

ATTENTION NATIONAL PARK SERVICE: The park itself is a nice rustic camp ground. Our site was right on the water. Site and campground 4.5 stars. 1 STAR for the hosts who had some kind of tripod in our site. I assume for Internet. I don't much care for sharing a site that I paid for. I would have asked for it to be moved if we were staying for more than 1 night. We didn't even start a fire. Though had we, it may have caused issues with their device. Just a quick pull in for the evening and off the next morning. I would like to stay again, but beware of site number one!

We camped here on Labor Day weekend. The campground is right between lake Michigan and highway 2 and very popular. The lake side campsites have private access to the beach, and there's a variety of sites, some on a ridge, some in a sandy bottom basin, some more private, and others more open to the main road. The campsites on the roadside are sometimes louder because of being closer to the highway. The host family this year was very friendly and helpful. The bathrooms and campsites were kept very clean.

My husband and I brought our camper out here for the Independence Day weekend all the way from Indiana. The space was lovely, well maintained and the bathroom/pit was kept clean, stocked and tidy. We stayed here for 3 nights and enjoyed what the upper peninsula had to offer including delicious fish dip and pasties at Lehtos. Yummy. St. Ignace is approximately 18 miles away south east down highway 2 and was a lovely small town next to the water and views of the Mackinaw bridge. The campground has it's own beach access area where you can climb down the ticket wooden steps to a lovely, rocky beach. If you are not staying at the campground there is a honor-system parking fee of $5. Well worth it. In case you are wondering we took the scenic highway roads coming up, avoiding highways on the GPS. Took about 10 hours. 8 had we taken the interstate. It was a wonderful drive and Michigan itself is a breathtaking state full of luscious greenery, wildlife and amazing wild pink flowers along the roads. I cannot wait to plan another trip up here.

Great destination to land as you enter the UP! Amazing Stars and Aurora Borealis from here! If you’re lucky enough.

Primitive camping. No hookups and just a few water spigots for potable water. There are a few "restrooms". Several paths down to Lake Michigan where you can enjoy the " beach". Most sites are tree covered and many are for tents only. A few can accommodate trailers up to 28' or so. No big rigs here. Camp hosts were very friendly and kept all the sites clean and leaf free. Road noise, especially trucks, is bothersome during the day but dies down early in the evening.

A decent place for a rustic overnighter. There is a single pit toilet. You can h. ear the sound of the water crashing on the shoreline but the sounds of cars from highway 2 are louder.
