We rented a little lean-to cabin. They have heat but the heat doesn't work very well. The walls and the floors are very cold. If the outside temperature is above freezing you will be okay. But if it is colder than that you better bundle up when you sleep.
Wrote about my camping experience at this lake on the belle plain state park page but this lake is a nice place to go. Not much to do but there is Kevin's Kitchen and the nature center. You can also rent a canoe for $10 an hour. The lake isn't very deep so any fish you can catch you got to get out on a boat. If your gonna fish from the shore expect to catch a lot of algae but there are fish in the deeper out in front of the swimming area.
I absolutely love this lake and nature trails, and I love that it’s dog-friendly. But, BEWARE OF TICKS! It’s April and there are already so many ticks out. I picked 4 off of my dog when we came home. Wear a hat and protective clothing if possible, and check for ticks!
Short drive to this state park now with water and electric hookups. Easy flat hiking. We just wish the trees were trimmed back on the RV sites. There are usually a few low hangers.
