Lake of the Falls Campground/County Park Introduce

Wisconsin's Northwoods region is a cherished escape for locals seeking to immerse themselves in nature's tranquility and beauty. Among the many outdoor gems, Lake of the Falls Campground/County Park in Mercer, WI, stands out as a unique destination that perfectly blends rustic charm with essential modern conveniences. This isn't just a place to set up camp; it's a gateway to breathtaking waterfall views, fantastic fishing opportunities, and a truly authentic Northwoods experience, all while providing the comfort of electricity and clean facilities. For Wisconsin residents looking for a memorable and convenient outdoor adventure, Lake of the Falls Campground offers an ideal blend of rugged beauty and practical amenities.

The allure of Lake of the Falls Campground lies in its ability to offer a "very nice" camping experience, as noted by visitors, by providing individual electrical hookups at each site. This is a significant advantage for both RV and tent campers, allowing for greater comfort and convenience, especially for those who rely on power for essential devices or climate control. Despite being in a "very rustic" area, as one reviewer highlighted, the park ensures that campers don't have to completely rough it, making it accessible to a broader range of outdoor enthusiasts, including those who appreciate a touch of comfort amidst the wilderness.

A standout feature that truly sets this campground apart is its location with "excellent View of lake of the Falls waterfalls." Imagine waking up to the soothing sounds and majestic sights of natural waterfalls right from your campsite – a unique experience that few campgrounds can offer. This natural spectacle provides an unparalleled backdrop for your outdoor activities, whether it's enjoying a morning coffee or capturing stunning photographs. It adds a dramatic and picturesque element to every stay, making it more than just a place to sleep, but a destination in itself.

Beyond the scenic beauty, Lake of the Falls Campground is particularly well-suited for anglers. Being "on the water" and close to Mercer, it provides direct access to the flowage, which is known for its fishing opportunities. The convenience of having electric sites, showers, and bathrooms on the flowage makes it "perfect for the anglers to camp at," allowing them to focus on their passion with the comfort of nearby facilities. However, it's an important factual note for anglers and boaters that the flowage is drained by 4 feet starting September 1st each year. This seasonal change should be considered for late-season fishing or boating plans.

The campground's commitment to providing clean facilities is also frequently praised. The "very nice clean bathrooms" with "coin op shower" are a welcome amenity, especially after a day of exploring trails or fishing. The availability of water and a "trailer clean out" by the concrete bathrooms on the inside loop further enhance the convenience for RV campers. While a few sites might need grading to be level, and the canoe launches could benefit from repair, these minor points are generally outweighed by the overall quality of the facilities and the breathtaking natural setting.

In conclusion, Lake of the Falls Campground/County Park offers a compelling blend of rustic Northwoods charm and essential modern conveniences. Its unique location with direct views of the waterfalls, coupled with electric sites, clean bathrooms, and a welcoming atmosphere, makes it an ideal destination for Wisconsin locals. Whether you're an avid angler, a family seeking a picturesque retreat, or simply someone looking to enjoy the peace and beauty of Wisconsin's Northwoods, this campground provides a memorable and comfortable base for your next adventure. It's a true testament to the diverse and high-quality outdoor experiences available right here in Wisconsin.

I stayed here in 2021 and loved it. Coming back in 2022 for more. Lots of woods, close to Mercer, on the water, showers, bathrooms, perfect for the anglers to camp at. This whole area is very rustic, you can really tough it tent camping in islands, this park gives you the ability to have electric and showers while still being on the flowage.

Beautiful County park! Nice camp sites. Stayed here a few times. The small waterfall just makes it a special place in my soul! Fished here a few times. Never caught anything, but I don't really care... fishing is ,in of itself, a meditative act. For me anyway. Love this park!
