We totally lucked out snagging a campsite right on the water at Lake of the Ozarks State Park—talk about a view! Sure, it was hot, and the humidity was up there, but when you're chilling lakeside, it’s all part of the vibe. We spent our days just relaxing by the lake, soaking in the scenery, and it was pure bliss. Wildlife lovers, this place won’t disappoint. We had a little armadillo wander through our site, and to top it off, some kind of otter popped by for a visit! Seriously, it’s like the wildlife was just as curious about us as we were about them. One night, we decided to take a break from camp cooking and checked out PaPPo's Pizzeria & Pub in Osage Beach. Pro tip: their pizza is amazing! After a long day outdoors, it hit the spot, and it was nice to kick back and let someone else do the cooking for a change. If you’re looking for a relaxed, lakeside escape with a mix of nature and great food options nearby, Lake of the Ozarks is where it’s at. We had such a great time and can’t wait to come back!
Beautiful campgrounds. Most of the other campers were fairly respectful and kept things down. Nice facilities and paved roads. They were under construction for all their basic sites so we had to pay for the RV spot to tent camp, but it worked out. All the restrooms and water had been shut off for the winter since we went after November 1.
Really nice campground. Great spot with a toddler. The water was super low but still had a nice beach. Campsites have nice spacing.
We stayed in spots that were designed as family spots (we were there with 3 other RVs). There was plenty of space for all of us to hang out. You only get electricity, but there is a water faucet at the entrance you can stop to fill up at before going to your spot. Getting into some of the sites can be a tight squeeze, so be careful with that. Some sites are not as level as one would like either. The wildlife, mainly deer, love to come up to your site & it appears they're begging for food, so you know that there are some that feed them. The raccoons like to pay a visit, too, so make sure your trash is picked up & thrown away. It is a fairly quiet campground. The roads are one way only so you do get a lot of traffic sometimes. We spent an afternoon at the beach there & it was nice, especially because it was hot. We also rented a pontoon one day for a couple of hours & boated along the river. Oh, and watch out for the ticks.
Our family has been camping here for years, and we love it! The views are breathtaking, campgrounds are kept up nicely, shower house is clean, and there's so much to do here. Highly recommend!
