This was a great place before the recent new ownership. It is not big rig friendly by any means. The roads are narrow, rough and have adjacent trees that scratch the side of your expensive motorhome. There is no pool and no cable tv, no local stations and too many trees for satellite. They advertise kayak rentals and access to the river but when we inquired about where to get the kayaks, they said they currently were not able to rent any. Supposedly they were not open last year due to renovation work but little renovation was apparent. Perhaps the work consisted of buried infrastructure that we can't see. This time there appeared to be something bleeding into the road out of what appeared to be a leaching field. I hope it wasn't sewage. When we stayed here two years ago we paid $70.00/night and this time it was $105.00 and $120.00/night. This campground isn't worth more than $60.00 per night. They offer no activities except for an ATV towing around some barrel carts for little kids and low rent DJ. We love the area and unfortunately there are no other campgrounds open in the area so we will probably have to stay at this place again if we want to come back. If the owners think they are making improvements and they have a first class facility, they better think again. Just my opinion.
We were a little sad to find out they moved but we found the new location very nice, although the road heading to the sites is a little tight I had no problem with my large travel trailer, I did have to pay attention but was by no means impossible. The new section has wide roads and easy to drive in pull thru sites. Although we had some rain one day we were able to stream 2 TVs with the wifi without any problems and the general store was small but had an awesome selection. We cannot wait to go back!!
Beware of their SCAM! This location charged my CC $250 for a smoking fee. I finally got the General Manager on the phone over 24 hours later and he stated there was a marijuana odor in the cabin. The Manager stated he did not smell it himself and that the odor could have came inside with me from my car. BEWARE....I have traveled to KOA's all over North America and have never encountered any issues. I will never stay at another KOA. I even went back to talk to management in person and was told no managers were on premises. Christina and Lisa at the front desk both told me this is something that happens often when I asked the metrics of how they assess a cabin was smoked in. This location is out to scam people out of their money. I do not smoke and did not smoke in their cabin.
This was our second year at this Koa and we had an amazing time. Site was so clean, washrooms and showers well maintained and always clean during our stay. The staff were friendly and helpful and our family had the best time enjoying all the fresh mountain air. There’s so much to do close by, highly recommend. Quite campgrounds & very much family friendly.
My family stayed in one of the many Deluxe Cabins for 3 nights. The cabin was beautiful and well appointed. Every thing you could possibly need was provided. The unit was clean, fresh and comfortable! There were a few reviews that mentioned a pet odor, so we expected that going in. However, we did not experience any of that. The cabin was cleaner than most hotel rooms we've stayed in! Extra linens for every bed, fully stocked kitchen, plenty of clean towels and washcloths (special ones for makeup), 2 air-conditioners, powerful ceiling fans, 2 smart tvs, amazing WiFi, and so much more. No detail was overlooked and we really appreciated every one of them. We were so pleased and content with our stay that we decided that KOA campgrounds were the way to go from here on out.
