We decided to do a last-minute camping trip, and Lake Somerville was one of the few places that had campsites available. We'd never been there, and it was relatively close. I'm so glad we got to experience Lake Somerville! It's such a beautiful place with a beautiful lake and great hiking trails! The bathrooms were very clean, and the park was well kept overall. They also have some bald eagles that live nearby, so you may even be lucky enough to spot one! This park is so nice and I look forward to returning for another camping trip.
First time here and it has been an amazing experience! 3hr drive from Arlington. It’s absolutely beautiful and peaceful. The staff are wonderful. We are in Yaupon loop site 13. We have a 20ft tent and it snuggled nicely under the tree. Just a short walk down to the gorgeous lake and sandy shore! Great time walking and biking on trails.
There are lots of places for trailer hookups, trails and boat ramp. It is very peaceful and there are some trailer hookups close to the lake. It cost $5 per person to enter.
We camped at Lake Somerville SP on first weekend of December, we had very nice and pleasant time. We stayed at site 086 on Old Hickory loop. It was very close to restrooms. Park was busy due to Boy Scouts convention that weekend, it was nice to see a lot of happy kids having so much fun! Restrooms were kind of outdated and small, but very clean. Nice trails and beautiful lake and sunset.
Gorgeous park with so much to explore! Definitely deserves multiple visits. Helpful maps and signs, nearby restrooms, and well kept/tended areas.
