Customer Reviews
The owners hire nice kids to run the place but the owners/managers themselves are a different story, as other reviewers have said. We had to deal with Jeff, who seems to run the boat rentals, unfortunately. The first boat we were given didn’t work - the trim control didn’t work consistently. We spent two hours of the 4 hour rental ($700) trying to make it work, and we asked one of the attendants, a nice kid to see whether we are doing something wrong. After 20 minutes on the boat, he told us that there is something wrong with the trim control indeed. We were given a different boat and were only able to spend two hours on the lake. Jeff refused to give us a partial refund, saying that we got an “upgrade”, ignoring the fact that we wasted half of the boat rental time. He said that it was “operator error”, with a sneer, even though his own employee agreed with us. Very unpleasant man.
This place has very narrow roads that leads down to the marina. John the owner is very well aware of the people he hires as the old reviews shows he runs things differently. There was a blockade in the middle of the road where collect fee and argue with you and tell you to leave for asking questions about the place( main guy was Pete). This place hires a lot of young girls that is friendly. The one lane boat ramp is a bit cramped and parking doesn’t get any better. Bathroom is not the best for a marina. This was my first time and last mainly because of Pete.
Great for boat rentals. Really nice and helpful staff. Rented a 12 person pontoon, check in at the marina store was easy, knowledgeable guide for the boat, easy to return the boat at the end of the day. Prices are reasonable. Boat was clean and ran smoothly and we enjoyed all day on the boat and plenty of space for 3 coolers and 12 adults. Price: 8 hour rental of the single story pontoon for 12 people, it cost $912 (boat) + $50 (gas). Our group thought that was very reasonable.
Great place. Really chill place. Only downside is if your going to BBQ the wasps are insane if you stay the grass area bring mosquito repellent. The lake is great clean and plenty of spaces for wakeboarding and tubing.
Tucked away from all major city and urban caos, this little hidden jewel of a lake is a dreamy spot for anyone and everyone. Camp sites are accessible by boat so you feel completely off grid. Tranquil setting, abundance of wildlife and clean water with loads of fish. If it wasn't for the drought, which may close this lake unexpectedly, it is the best year round lake to enjoy, nestled in the hills which give it a climate all its own. Don't drive 2+ hours away when this 1 1/2 hour treck, is ideal for even a day get away. P.S. the store on your right, about 3 mile's before the entrance to the lake, is a historic spot, been there since 1881 and is now owned by the daughter of Gallo winery. Awesome sandwich's or just catch the historic vibe.
