Clean. Pristine. Quiet. Not crowded. The water is so refreshing and clean. And is not far from the tri state area. Especially coming from nyc. You can rent some boats or take your own inflatable out in to the lake or just take a dip in the water. Highly recommend visiting here it is a breath of fresh air. Come prepared to stay long cause you will feel so at peace.
Beautiful place to visit I visited Lake Waramaug State Park recently and had a fantastic experience. The lake is absolutely stunning—calm, clear, and surrounded by gorgeous rolling hills. It’s a perfect spot for kayaking or just relaxing by the water. The picnic areas were clean and well-maintained, and there was plenty of space to spread out and enjoy the view. We also explored a bit of the campground. The sites are spacious and nicely shaded, and it looked like a great place to spend the night. There’s a good mix of families, couples, and solo campers, and it felt very safe and welcoming. The park staff was friendly, and the bathrooms were in decent condition for a state park. I highly recommend visiting, especially in the fall when the foliage is at its peak. Can’t wait to come back!
May be my favorite place to camp... certainly in CT if you wake up with the sun the sunrise over the lake is fabulous. It's clean and well maintained. Lots.of day trippers... Nice safe bike road around the lake. Campsites have almost all grass which is wonderful vs gravel or dirt (comfy and clean) but still plenty of shade. Generally very well placed campsites. And a few cabins. No dogs not obvious alcohol (beer in a cup seems fine)
A beautiful park right on the lake. We saw geese, ducks and herons. Herons. Unfortunately, the weekend we were there at poured buckets so we would like to return. Nice sites on the grass with most having a view of the lake. Bathroom was fine with free showers.
First time camping and absolutely loved this place. Everyone was friendly from staff to other campers. Beautiful view of water. Quiet hours are from 10pm-7am and the park was so quiet. Will definitely be back !!
