Fun place to go camping and enjoy being outdoors. Many areas to camp and cook out. Have seen many people with their pets and children enjoying themselves there. Lake Whitney is very close by. There are many camping sites and something for everyone to enjoy.
At check-in, the people were real nice & helpful. Nice & quiet in loop D. We enjoyed our stay. Some sites in loop A & B look too unlevel to try to set up on, or they were too short for our 45ft class A. Not many full hook-ups or 50 Amp service were available. This thousand trails is a first come basis. Road going back to loop A & B is in bad shape.
It may be what someone else is looking for, but for us it is way too woodsy and out of the way of anything without having to drive 45-60 mins to major shopping or attractions. The staff is always friendly and accomodating. Having a Montana 5th wheel (13'-4" tall) the TREES were a major concern (as it has a rubber roof that we have already had to replace due to tree canopy/branch damage at another campground), either going through streets and/or getting into a campsite (and they won't let you trim the trees, even at the stake of damaging your RV roof/sides against it. TT Lake Conroe, and TT Colorado River are better suited to us... but to each their own preference. You might like it. Here in last week November through Dec 10th, bathrooms/showers were all locked up except at Welcome Center & Lodge.
Almost to many trees, but quite, not a good dog park, very small. No grass in winter for dogs, the lake is a walk that's not to bad. They were flooded at the adult center the pool table is not open. But the WiFi is good. It's a I'm place I think I would only come back in spring and summer when there is more grass for our dogs.
The park is OK. Staff is friendly. Pools and bathrooms seem to b clean. Only thing is that it seems the neighborhood believes the front pool is the neighborhood pool. Lots of non members in the campground. I dont like it. Other then that it's good.
