We had a great time staying here! The dogs loved it, Owner is extremely nice and is very understanding(our dogs were yappers😬) We stayed at a tent site, had a fire ring, Porta potty close by, very clean well taken of campground. Right next to the river and is below the dam, lots of fishermen fishing there of that's your thing!

Joseph was very friendly and accommodating!! I highly recommend this campsite! I like it better than the state park campgrounds. It's affordable and nice & clean facilities. The bathrooms were clean too. There is electricity ports near the bathrooms so we used them to charge our phones. It's 10 min drive from the caves state park.

JC is super friendly, as is his dog Molly. Small 10 slot place. Good for a quick overnight. Bathrooms were clean. Fire ring, picnic table, concrete slab. Nice listening to the dam.

My daughter & I traveled from the Des Moines area and was planning on camping at the cave's campground, but it was full. Wasn't sure what to do until the owner of Maquoketa River Rental tipped us off to this place, and I'm so glad he did! The owners are friendly and kind, campgrounds & facilities were clean and well kept, and you're right on the river! They had firewood to purchase on site and the bathrooms were clean and had a nice shower. If we ever come back to this area, will definitely make a reservation to be sure to get a spot as we got the last one this time. (Thanks be to God for providing!) One thing to mention, there is a pretty steep slope to get down to the tent sites that you can't drive down, so several trips up & down carrying gear and to get to the bathrooms, that are a ways away. For me this was good as I need the exercise! (: For others, they just may not be able to physically handle this.
