For end-of-season camping, it's hard to beat Jackson Lake state park. The colors were on full display.
Beautiful campground with a lot of amenities. There is a walking/biking trail to the visitor center and marina, camper services building with showers, water spickets near campsites, electric hookups at most sites(excluding tent only sites). Since Jackson Lake State Park is an international dark sky park the stars were amazing especially early in the morning like 3am. There were stairs to the water but the banks are very rocky aside from the stairs. The water felt very good in the heat. It was cool but not too cold. The water was pretty green probably from algae. The wildlife in the campground is great I saw a pelican, a toad and a turtle.
The beach swim area is beautiful. My almost 2yr old enjoyed the water and playing in the sand. The campsites are very accessible and kept clean. The shower house was only 50c for 3 mins, be sure too wear shower shoes to avoid slipping the floors could use some rubber mats. We will definetly be returning to this beautiful lake. 😍
Nicely spaced electric sites, with water stations at intervals. Dump and trash bins near the entrance. We camped before Memorial day and it was quiet, not many speed boats. But the goatheads are plentiful.
Park rangers need to slow their roll. They buzz through there on their golf carts like its a race track. No time for anybody to even flag them down if something was needed. Beach was beautiful & water was warm. They need more trash cans available by the beach. Their trees need cut back desperately. There's an accident waiting to happen near camper spot #3.
