5/25/2024 Lakeside has some really lovely campsites on Hords Creek, along with screened shelters, and pavilions that groups can rent out. There was still an abundance of wildflowers sprinkled throughout the park. My site was T054, and had 30 amp, one regular household outlet with two plugs, and water. Check to see whether your site is 30 or 50 amp to be sure you have the correct adapter/plug. If you need 50 amp., book it! The picnic table and benches are cement and there’s a permanent shade structure overhead. A fire pit was provided. Pets, on a 6 ft. leash, are welcome. There was a playground in the park. This site is a fair ways from the restrooms, so campers drove there and back - especially at night. I knew in advance that Hords Creek water level was really low (see pics) and motorized water craft were not allowed. I did not realize in advance that there was no swimming permitted, and as it was really humid, cooling off was challenging. My fan did little good. It was quite toasty (high 90s) for still being May. Thankfully, it cooled down during the night, making the morning much more pleasant. I only saw two other tents being used for camping - everyone else had an air conditioned trailer or motor home to escape the heat - and the vast number of mosquitoes and flying insects. There were several groups camping together in RVs throughout the park, in areas where one RV can pull in and hook up right beside another, and then they have communal gathering space. These seemed very popular. I ended up leaving early with more storms predicted, as I had no desire to be in a tornado watch in a tent! Overall, it was pretty quiet, but I can only guess that curtailed water activity changes the variety of campers there then. When the water level comes back to normal, I expect this would be a different experience. I did see people fishing, and a few walkers or bike riders, but that’s about it. Most just stayed close to campsites.

Lots of really nice sites, but in the same area as one or two other campgrounds and their signage is not good at all so it’s hard to find your site. The showers also smelled like sewage really bad after about 5 minutes. But otherwise it was a decent stay.

Very clean and friendly place. Lots of wildlife and just a real pretty place. Several places that would be perfect for family reunions or any type of group gathering. A variety of different types of camp sights, cabins or screened in shelters to choose from. I definitely recommend checking this place out. They even have 2 different playgrounds for the kiddos. Horseshoes, volleyball, basketball. Too much to list it all.

We had a great time at GS3. GS3 is secluded and a large site perfect for our kiddos to get to run and play. The staff is friendly and helpful. We will definitely camp here again.
