This is a great Campground if you're looking to do a two-day sea to Summit backpack trip. Or just a simple backpacking trip in the Portola redwoods or big Basin Redwoods State Parks. Keep in mind there is no water at this Campground. Fortunately we were there after the recent rains and were able to pump water off the side of the road from a ditch. Without this ditch we would have had to hike two miles to opal Creek to pump water. We used a great guy for a shuttle service and paid him $100 a person. Feel free to message me if you would like his contact information for a shuttle.

We hiked from Waterman's Gap Trail Camp to Lane Trail Camp, early August 2018. Be aware that this camp has neither water (-1) nor tables (-1). The warm night challenged my four season Black Diamond I-tent...and I finally opened the tent netting to cool down at the cost of allowing in innumerable bugs and a few mosquitos. The next morning, we hurried away from a cloud of bugs without eating breakfast and enjoyed a mostly downhill hike to Portola Redwoods State Park.

No water. Pit toilet was a reminder of overcrowding. Wish homo sapiens have consideration encoded as part of DNA. When those psuedo-nature lover leave, mother nature is left with scars of their inconsideration.
