We stayed there 2x so far while visiting our daughter who attends WWU. We love the beach, the hiking up to Fragrance Lake, running on the interurban, and the nearby mountain biking. The park is clean and well maintained. The park staff is very helpful while providing security and adherence to the rules. The restrooms could use a little help. I grew up around trains, and find the trains that go near the park fascinating!

Definitely a nice campground in terms of the layout and ocean lookouts/beach. That being said, the constant trains made it difficult to get a good night of sleep. It also sounded like the location was under a flight path and some cars were very noisy. Great location for popping into town or going mountain biking at Galbraith (definitely a lot of bikers camping).

Campgrounds are nice, but campsites are quite small. Can hear the train and cars pass by but didn’t bother us too much. Firewood available for purchase from camp host for $7/bundle, and beach is quite nice, but you do have to walk from the campsite.

The park is beautiful. It's too bad the management doesn't do a better job of keeping the homeless from sleeping in the bathroom/showers at night and stopping the illegal drug use I witnessed at the Day Use shelter. My family did not feel safe during our stay. Edit: It's all starting to make sense now. I believe the powers that be have opened up the Washington State Parks to the homeless population. This explains why showers are now free at state parks. It also explains why signs have started popping up next to bathrooms saying there's a 15-minute time limit for parking with no Discover pass required. Further, day use bathrooms that used to get locked at night are no longer locked. If you are unhappy about your state parks being used by the homeless, let your representatives and park management know. Families ought to feel safe while paying to stay at our state parks.

AVOID THIS PLACE FOR CAMPING - SERIOUS TRAIN NOISE We are never staying here again. We regret that the state decided to place a campground here literally less than half a mile from train tracks that are heavily used. Note that there are over 30 reviews mentioning TRAIN NOISE. The train tracks are so loud and run so frequently that we could not rest at all. We heard other campers talking about wearing headphones to skeep and on our first night here it was just unbearable. Do not book an extended stay here. We regret doing so and now have to pay last minute rates to find another place as the whole point of getting away was to relax in the woods and get some rest. I am writing this review at 145am in the morning after I was woken up for the fufth time tonight by very loud train noise. Book someplace else, the campground is tiny, crowded and too close to the Chuckanut Drive coastal highway as well. There were motorcycles audible doing speed runs at midnight as well. Three strikes. We're moving to another place ASAP. I can't believe anyone who enjoys camping out in nature and quiet would ever stay here and the high star reviews are just boggling. UPDATE - The attached video was taken at 310AM. It's so loud.
