Customer Reviews
Location private and felt safe. Grounds very clean and well-kept. Bath houses very clean. Spots somewhat close but lots of trees for shade, privacy and outdoor ambiance. Quiet campers made it a peaceful stay. Did not realize there was a dog park until morning when we saw it on our way out. Looked like a nice, larger one. Some very basics at camp store. Would stay here again.
This KOA, located just outside Las Vegas, NM, is convenient to explore the city and surrounding areas like Fort Union and Pecos. Some of the sites are shaded and treed, others are good pull through, but not as scenic. Some of the sites have eccentric hookup layouts (for example, we had to run our hose underneath the vehicle to the water hookup). Also, the water pressure is low, and, at night, on some of the higher elevation sites, can drop to zero, so check with the office and they may suggest filling your tanks and augmenting with internal pumps.
We stayed for the night at this KOA we were at the tent site. The campsite had a great view . The staff was really kind. But the showers were really small I had a hard time trying to take a shower and getting my kids washed as well. The seats that are in the shower area are tiny I felt like it was going to break when I sat on it and I am not that big of a person. Also it was a hot day when we arrived and it was even hotter when we got down setting up our tent so I decided to take my kids to the pool to cool off. When we got in the pool there were a lot of bugs and it just looked dirty so we left. I can understand it’s a pool outside so yes bugs will get in there but there weren’t just a few of them there was a lot. Also the neighbors cross from this KOA are super noisy. Plus I could hear the dogs that were outside barking for most of the night. Glad we only stayed one night. Side note: the restaurants in the area either close early or the food isn’t that great .so if you are coming in late I would suggest bringing your own food or eating before coming to the location.
Super friendly staff. Speedy check in. Very easy on/off from I-25 & close to a good gas station. Clean campground & exactly as advertised. Although we didn't take advantage of the breakfast, I suspect that it was great. Thanks everyone!
Our RV spot had weak water pressure and the 30amp power didn't work. Thankfully it was cold enough to go without AC so we plugged into the 20amp. Our RV spot was a pull-in that required us to back out up-hill to exit. The young man we dealt with was very nice, but this place is a dive for a KOA.
