For Wisconsin residents, Laurel Lake Campground presents a highly suitable and deeply appealing camping option, perfectly aligning with the state's love for natural beauty and authentic outdoor experiences. Its unique blend of rustic charm, strategic location, and genuine hospitality makes it an ideal choice for a diverse range of local campers.

Firstly, the campground's small, "cute little" size and its presence within the Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest offer a sense of escape into true wilderness without being overly remote. Many Wisconsinites appreciate these more intimate settings over large, bustling campgrounds. The fact that some sites are still available on a first-come, first-serve basis is a huge plus for those who enjoy spontaneous adventures or prefer not to plan months in advance, a common preference among locals familiar with popular camping spots.

The explicit mention of a "super nice host and her pooch" highlights a level of personalized care and warmth that elevates the camping experience. This kind of friendly, on-site management often fosters a strong sense of community and provides valuable local insights, making campers feel genuinely welcome and cared for. This human touch is a significant factor for Wisconsin families and individuals seeking not just a place to stay, but a pleasant and supportive environment for their outdoor getaway.

Furthermore, Laurel Lake Campground’s location is a considerable advantage for locals. Being "only minutes away from good eats, golf, and attractions in Three Lakes" and a short drive from Eagle River means campers can enjoy the peaceful solitude of their site while still having easy access to town amenities, dining, and other recreational activities. This balance allows for a truly flexible vacation, where you can spend your days immersed in nature and your evenings enjoying local Northwoods culture.

Perhaps most importantly, the direct access to the Eagle River-Three Lakes Chain of Lakes provides unparalleled opportunities for water-based recreation – a beloved pastime for many Wisconsinites. Whether it's fishing for musky and walleye, kayaking through serene bays, or simply enjoying a pontoon ride, the vastness of this interconnected water system ensures endless possibilities for aquatic adventure. The emphasis on appreciating "not having amenities" speaks to a local sensibility that values the raw beauty of Wisconsin over excessive comforts, making Laurel Lake Campground a perfect fit for those who truly love the state's natural, unadulterated charm.

Visited in August, 2017. Nice quiet campground on the Three Lakes chain. Tidy rustic campsites, no electricity, clean pit toilet. Water from hand pump is tannin stained, maybe drinkable but I'd advise bringing bottled water. Wonderful for a quiet getaway.

Very quite on a Monday and Tuesday. Paddled some of the lake. Had to clean up fire pit from other campers. Water supply is from a hand pump. Restrooms are pit toilets, clean. Will be back in future.
