Very clean and well maintained. The owners are very friendly and patient with inexperienced campers. We’ll be back next season.
I have been here since October 1st and am staying until October 31st because my husband is doing work at the Sugar Creek Generation Station. Me, my husband and daughter love it here so far. They do have a basic playground in two areas with slides and swings(only 1 toddler swing). Also it is beautiful here, I attached some pictures below of the beautiful scenery. The only thing I don't like is there's no sewer hook-ups for black and gray water. They do have a nice lady who will come and pump it for you for $20 which seems a little pricey considering we fill up our gray water tank every other day, but we ended up buying a portable waste bin to take it and dump it ourselves. I give 5 stars. Great service, nice people, beautiful scenery. Also I want to add I came all the way from Alabama which was a 12 hour trip. I was getting in late and they were flexible with my arrival time. I was worried with my late arrival they would get mad. We had a slow trip hauling the camper
Nice campground with friendly management. I'll list the pros and (not cons, but "room for improvements") Pros: cheap primitive campsite ($20 a night in April 2024); outside of a major metro area; well-kept/maintained; new docks for fishing; beach area; kayaks available; nice deck area for sitting and having lunch; store for supplies; fire pits and new picnic tables in the primitive camping area and elsewhere. "Room for improvements:" only port-a-potties for bathrooms except for a small men's and women's toilet and shower (one for each) at the front entrance (could use another built washroom nearer the primitive sites--perhaps that is planned); trains were loud and plenty late until the evening (not sure what could be done about that); canada geese are going to be loud as well during certain seasons. Otherwise, a pleasant stay. Would visit again if in the area.
This campground is perfect for family's to come out and swim fish and sit by the bonfire the park is well maintained and activities and unlimited they also have a bait and tackle shop uptown well maintained and have a large selection of bait and tackle
The reason I have this campground only 3 stars is because I believe this is just the 'bare basics' type campground. Some parts are all gravel (like a large parking lot). Other sites have a small strip of grass. Our site was a pull-through site but it wasn't appealing enought for us to sit outside. There are fire rings but NO picnic table. The staff was always friendly hand happy to help. -One thing to be aware of, there is NO breaker on the electric outlet (see photo). A surge protector is advised. -You may share a water hook-up like we did. I was not impressed by there .99 splinters (see photo). Maybe they had a problem with people taking the good ones. -There is a train the goes by regularly...even at night using it's horn! -We didn't take advantage of any water activities at the lake because it rained the one full day we were there. All in all, if you're looking for an overnight stop, this would be fine. But, I wouldn't concider this a 'destination' campground.
