đ˛ Introduction / Overview: The Spacious Backcountry of Ledge Camp
For Minnesota's dedicated backpackers and outdoor enthusiasts, Ledge Camp represents a highly-regarded stop along the world-class Superior Hiking Trail (SHT). Situated deep within the rugged terrain near Schroeder, this designated backcountry campsite offers a welcoming and relatively spacious resting point on your North Shore adventure. Unlike smaller, more secluded SHT sites, Ledge Camp is known for having a larger footprint, providing multiple spots for tents and a sense of openness often appreciated by hikers needing to spread out or accommodating a few different groups.
Ledge Camp is a vital piece of the SHTâs infrastructure, which is maintained by the Superior Hiking Trail Association (SHTA) to encourage responsible, low-impact camping. It is a strictly hike-in, hike-out location, perfectly embodying the spirit of wilderness travel that defines the North Country National Scenic Trail experience. Whether you are tackling a short section hike or completing a multi-week thru-hike of the SHT's approximately 300 miles, Ledge Camp serves as a memorable and functional overnight stop, allowing hikers to recharge before ascending or descending the challenging terrain characteristic of the Superior National Forest area.

Great campsite. Plenty of sunny and shady spots to setup camp. There's plenty of space for multiple campsites plus there's fire pits. In the fall time it get really covered in leaves that fell and can be pretty wet if it has been raining.
