There was a problem with the original boat that we rented for Saturday. They called Thursday evening with no other boats available for Saturday. They did have availability for Friday but again not with the original boat. We booked a double decker with a slide and we got a standard in replace. They did throw in a jet ski which was nice. We had to change our entire plans for the whole weekend to accommodate this change. Pontoons are very outdated and the seats are highly uncomfortable. Boats are not equipped with a depth finder, anchor, or any tie off ropes. While I do understand that things happen, was still disappointed with it all. Customer service was nice and the store was very nice.

I rented the Big Cream Houseboat, for one week, Sep 8th through 15th. This was our DIY cruise, celebrating retirement , and my Dad's Bday #89. Bottom line: Lee's Ford Marina and staff, absolutely recommended. Overall we had a great time. However, the Big Cream Houseboat, was not a good idea, and had several mechanical issues. Only the staff who are so kind and helpful, bring this review up to 4 stars Details: we arrived Sunday. The boat was nice clean and ready to go. We called the ship store for assistance with mobility, and they were very kind and accommodating. On Sunday the wind was too high to leave the slip. We headed out on Monday, and headed for Mill Springs, where we spent the night. We didn't realize yet that the refrigerator was not cooling. The freezer was working fine. Navigating this boat is a big challenge, as the wind pushes it all over the place. You really need to have about zero wind going on. On Tuesday we headed up Faubush and found another lovely spot to tie up. Lake Cumberland is such a wonderful place and every where you look is just beautiful. Wednesday morning we plotted our course back to Lee's Ford, to pick up more passengers. We needed all of Lee's Ford staff help to pull into lane N, for refueling (5.20/gal). We spent Wednesday night at the Marina, on shore power/ water Thursday Morning we set off once again for Mill Springs, which is such a lovely place. However, this time the dock was loose from its mooring, so we couldn't stay there. We found another great spot at Norman Hollow, and tied up there. On Friday we had more family arriving at Lee's Ford, so we started back again. This day, the weather was more windy, and it was a challenge to keep our course. Soon we realized that only one engine was operating. At lane N, even with the Marina staff help, we very nearly slo-mo crashed into some moored boats! It was an adventure, and I'm really glad it was the Marina staff driving. We let them know about the engine and refrigerator. Refrigerator kept resetting itself, to stop cooling. The engine was repaired, but noone was available for the refrigerator. But, the Marina let us have all the ice we needed. Friday night, we spent at the Marina, on shore power, but half the power wasn't working, including AC. The staff is always very helpful, and troubleshooting the problem, the replaced a cable, and found a circuit breaker below that had tripped. Saturday morning, we set out for Pulaski County Park. This was a bad idea. It really was going to be too windy for this vessel. But we got there and tied up, before the wind started. This is another lovely setting. Throughout our journey the water was wonderful for swimming. As we started back, one of the engines stopped working, and the other was only low power. As we headed back I called the Marina to let them know we were heading back, and having bad engine problems in the wind. 20 minutes out, an d again 10 minutes out. As we tried to pull in, a gust hit us, and it was all we could do to keep from hitting anything. Eventually we got stuck on the rocks, and they came out to tow us in. So, we spent the night at the refueling pier. The generator quit at about midnight, and never did get started again. So no water, no electric for the duration. Sunday Morning, we packed everything and headed home. We have some wonderful memories, and know better than to try this again Added note. Somebody needs to go around the porches and public bathrooms inside with a broom, to take care of the spiders webs, and other bugs.
