Beautiful area for a one night stay. Not many campers so it was quiet and peaceful. Not the cleanest bathrooms but not bad either. Flush toilets and showers in the building in between the two camping areas. ALL sites must be reserved online at ReserveAmerica or with a phone call to the appropriate #. It was $29.50 for us to stay the night in a standard electric site.
Nice campground, well kept, hiking trails, nice space between rvs. We stayed in lot 77. The lake was low cuz of the 3 year drought. Nice nature center. We went into onawa and went to retro movie theatre and watch twister.
Had never been here before. Met a friend from out of town to eat. It was a holiday and just about everything was closed. They were busy so we didn’t want to take up a table just for chatting and we were looking for a place to sit and catch up. Found this place nearby. It was cold out and the place was completely empty aside from one camper. The office didn’t even look manned, so the camper may have been there without active hookups. Really gave us a good chance to look around though. When RV’s, tents and boats are all over, your viewable horizon is limited by it all. On this visit, we had unobstructed views in all directions, which gave us a good appreciation of what this place had to offer. It’s pretty good sized, lots of places to camp, and a lot of water front ground. I had no idea the place even existed, but it would be a location for people to take a serious look at when looking for a bit of a get away.
Great beach for the kids to play and swim! We loved the boats and museum. Looks like a nice campground, too. It is a small state park, and it was very pretty! Very close to Onawa, too. An outdoor shower to rinse off the sand would make this a 5 star in my opinion.
Love RV camping here! Not too far from Omaha and sandy lake to kayak on. Abundance of mature trees give a ton of shade making it cooler in the hot summer months.
